Volvo Penta or Perkins?.  Whatever it says on the covers, you can bet your engine base is used by several different companies. We had a new engine in Lightning 2 years ago, which replaced our old Perkins unit. The Volvo we replaced it with has the same block as the Perkins, so no need to mess around with changing engine mounts etc. I`ve seen numerous examples of engines from different, and sometimes big name manufacturers that are exactly the same as others.

Definitely not, the air draft is too high and if I owned a boat, I would not post pictures. Having been on here for a while you get to know the ones that really love the broads and can only afford to hire a boat. But then you get the ones that just come here to brag to being able to own a boat! They are few and far between, but they are here. :default_icon_rolleyes:

Strange statement.

Owning a boat on the Broads is a big financial commitment,  all year.  This shows a "love" of the area as much as hiring.

At least it will go further than Brundall to Reedham once a year

Unfortunately you are strangely missing the point.

I said earlier air draft was high but every body to their own. I started hiring 70s 80s had three different boats of my own for 30yrs sold it 2yrs ago came back to the Broads hiring 4wks holiday this year on 3 different boats I like change could buy into syndicate but doesn't appeal. If I had my own I probably would post a photo and if anyone wanted to criticise so be it as I said earlier everyone to their own

Not sure why owning or hiring a boat makes you any more or less a lover of the Broads?

I for one enjoy seeing members pictures on here, either their own boat or ones they are hiring.

Does seem a bit of a shame to dampen the mood of this thread. Obviously the OP and his wife are very happy with their new boat and I for one wish them many happy hours on board and enjoying the Broads.
