Guest
Jill, you may like to add the two public moorings sites on the banks of the Thurne. The first is opposite Maycraft and the second opposite Dutch Tutch - the building that everyone mistakenly identifies as a windmill but is actually the old helter skelter from Britannia Pier, Great Yarmouth. Both moorings are provided by the owners of the riverside bungalows. Both are free for twenty four hours. Both are grassed and quayheaded and regulatly maintained at bungalow owners' expense. In return all we bungalow owners ask is that engines are not run when moored. These are QUIET moorings. From memory I think rond anchors are required. TeamElla
Thanks for your efforts Rob, IMHO, this is just the kind of thing that enhances the forum as a useful reference library as well as being a place to keep up with current affairs. I suppose I shall have to go over and measure the 24 hr moorings at St. Olaves now. (That means walking past the pub) Steve p.s. Coldham Hall charging £10 for moorings now? - didn't know that

goodall_m1
I think the Thurne Dyke entry is wrong. I'm sure I only had to pay £3.50 last week. It might also be worth noting that the moorings on the south side of the dyke are owned by "The Red House" and payment must be made there (house on the right as you reach the road end) and not to the pub. The moorings on the north side are owned by the pub, but I'm pretty sure that they were £3.50 as well. Martin

Thank you Sandragon70 Don't forget that with a hire boat you will be able to use the moorings at most of the boatyards (if they have space), comes in useful for places like Wroxham and Potter Heigham, where most of the public moorings are the wrong side of the bridges.
