Dear All

Please see the attached ABP Lowestoft port information notice regarding the A47 and Bascule Bridge.

All Port Users are advised that the Northbound A47 road is closed at the junction of Commercial Road and Station Square, with diversions in place to the South of the Bascule Bridge. A sink hole has opened up some 75 metres north of the Bascule Bridge. This hole is believed to have been caused as the result of a sewer pipe failure.

The Bascule Bridge remains open to all shipping as normal.

There are some restrictions to road traffic accessing the Inner Harbour area of the Port. Road traffic from the North cannot turn right from Station Square into Commercial Road.

Southbound vehicles must cross the Bascule Bridge and proceed to the A12 Roundabout near Asda where, with permission of the traffic diversion operator, they will be allowed to then proceed back northwards over the Bascule Bridge and to turn left into Commercial Road only.

Vehicles outbound from the Inner Harbour area can exit Commercial Road by turning left/northbound only; they can then use the road network to return Southbound over the Bascule Bridge if required.

This notice will be updated as and when further information is received from the Highways Authorities or other responsible agencies.
