It is a restaurant (specialises in fish I think). Also agree with the comments about the White Horse.

I often think the Horning pubs don't need to try very hard. They have a captive audience in summer and most folks probably only visit the once. I've been in them all in winter many times. The New Inn particularly does very little winter trade and often closes early. The Ferry is pretty quiet most of the time too. The Swan seems to do best in winter. At least they don't close early. I'm a big fan of Broads pubs (well pubs in general) but the Horning 3 are probably fairly well down my list. The beer in all 3 is average to say the least.

Always interesting to read other people’s thoughts on things. 

As for eateries, the New Inn has become a regular lunchtime stop for us both when we’re afloat and when we’re out in the car. Have had a good meal every time. 

The Sutton Staithe Hotel was our other excellent meal back in March but that’s a fair trek from Horning by boat perhaps.

I think it was Addicted who commented recently that hubby doesn’t eat/like fish. I looked at the menu at the Bure Cottage last week, if you do like fish then there is a superb choice of dishes (as you would expect in a fish restaurant of course!)

Well remembered! I mentioned this restaurant to him last week and he went quite pale at the very thought of it. Sadly it's not a place we'll be likely to patronise although I would be in heaven  with  predominantly fish menu.

One man's meat etc. Sutton Staithe is not an option for us by boat, sadly we're too high and too wide. We managed to get there with our previous boat and loved it

I used to like the Staithe & Willow in Horning, when it was taken over by a couple a few years back, their meals & service were excellent be it lunchtime or for an evening meal. I personally am not overjoyed with the pubs in Horning over the years when we used to moor there. They could have changed however.

Not one of them is anything special.

The New Inn seems to be the most popular, I guess I can say that about them... Best? I don't think so. Not even in Horning.

Im not sure if you mean eateries accesible by boat or just close to your Marina, if by boat this will be of no use to you whatsoever, but as a drive out to The White Horse at Neatishead had been mentioned a few minutes further on brings you to The Smallburgh Crown.

Now obviously I am not much of an eater in bars prefering a beer or ten so I can't personally vouch for it but I have always enjoyed it in there and it is one of the highest rated places in the area, dog friendly too hence my custom, so may be worth considering for a try out if you are heading out for a drive.

If your willing to go into Wroxham, I've never had a bad meal at the Wroxham Hotel and the The Station Smokehouse is on my list to try after recommendations  to the good. Agree with everyone about the White Horse. Very good.

We NEVER stop in Horning, for some reason we don`t like mooring there. There`s not a lot of public moorings anyway. The last time we stopped in Horning was in November 2 years ago, and that was by car.

Staithe and Willow definitely changed hands a few months back. We used to like the fact that it was dog friendly, though the standard of food definitely took a dive the last year or so. I’ve read on reviews that dogs are only allowed at the outside tables now...would be very happy if someone knows better!

I like to stop in Horning but only in late October or early November! A trip to the deli is usually on my agenda. I remember one day in November a few years back, it was so mild and we moored on the 24 hour moorings. There were people sitting out in the garden of the Swan at lunchtime it was so nice. Needless to say, the rivers were quiet at the time too.

After our meal out on Saturday, Tony said "we need to get some recommendations for good places to go for a  meal  in this locality. " I replied that I agreed and that I knew just the place to source them and as usual you lovely forumites didn't disappoint! Thanks all for the info and input. We'll be checking some of the recommended venues out soon.

I suppose the White Horse (at Neatishead i presume?) is great, providing you can get a mooring at the staithe, or the very least "Gaye`s staithe", but then with a fair walk?.
