To be honest I don’t think HM has much of a say in who the honours go to these days. Seems to be the PM and associated hierarchy that make the decisions. Probably like most things, all agreed elsewhere and sent to HM for rubber stamping.

I think Paul.you have hit the  nail on the head.I just wonder how long the powers that be hold off on Knighting Lewis.There is every chance he will get one or two more World championships. In my opinion he has done enough to gain a Knighthood .

It amazed and disappointed me that John Surtees was never knighted,surely there was a story behind there.
