Maurice Mynah's In Trouble Again

I needed to replace my mobile the other day (for various reasons) and I decided to join the 21st century and get one of those swipey phones that I see so many people gawping at in my local pub.

I have acquired a Samsung Galaxy 10.   … and that's about all I know about it.

I have now mastered answering it when it rings, but even that took a while as I didn't realise there was a difference between "swiping" the screen and touching it. Needless to say the damned thing doesn't have a handbook as such, it's on-line, so you can't look at the instructions while trying to do what they say. I know men aren't supposed to read instructions anyway, but it's nice to be able to scream at the thing that you can't anyway.

I want to get iTunes on it, and my playlist. (my playlist is on iTunes!) but That's causing me headaches, probably because it's an android rather than an apple. I would also like to get the app that tells me how fast I'm going.

Rumour has it that I can talk to the phone, asking it questions, but I don't know how to set that up, and as I am yet to do this, I can talk to it till I'm blue in the face, it just ignores me. ( not that that's unusual).

I shall persevere with it, but tempers are getting short here... both mine and probably the phones too.

Be warned, as soon as you mutter the words "ok google" to your phone in a pub someone like me always has the temptation to sneak up behind and say something very wrong like "goat porn" just to see what it comes up with...... :default_icon_twisted:

It leaves an interesting search history too.

You should have a magic button labelled Play Store. Click on this and you should find all the apps available for your phone. iTunes or Apple Music should be here if you search. Can also get loads of other useful and not so useful apps.

Unable to find this magic button sir. (story of my life!)

Hi MM

Sorry just seen this, glad you've decided to get a Samsung like me :default_wink:

As mentioned already you need the Play Store app, if you can't find it then swipe up on the home screen and you can then search for the app.

In play store you want to search for Apple Music, as iTunes is being scrapped by Apple and rolling it all into the Apple Music app.

You may have to sign up for a google account if you haven't already done so in play store

In fact I'll do the work for you, click this https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://play.google.com/store/apps/details%3Fid%3Dcom.apple.android.music%26hl%3Den_US%26referrer%3Dutm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_medium%3Dorganic%26utm_term%3Dapple%2Bmusic%2Bgoogle%2Bplay&ved=2ahUKEwi80aeVkLXmAhXHTsAKHdtIAR4QFjAJegQIAxAB&usg=AOvVaw0Ls3tGkHxzYVvihfKd_scj :default_biggrin:

Edit... I don't have to point out you want to click the link on your phone do ???

Not sure if you need more basics. On your 'home' screen you can with a swipe action from right to left on the screen reveal more icons (if any) on a page to the right. Do it again for even more (if any) and reverse swipe to go back.

Alternatively if you swipe with an action from the lower part of the screen upwards, as Jay suggests, you get to a list of all the apps on your phone. Again, once here, swipe right/left to reveal more.

A simple tap on an icon opens it. Or, if you press and hold on an icon a little menu comes up with an option to 'add to home' if required.

On you 'home' screen a similar press and hold gives the options to remove from the home screen, or to drag the icon to the position you want it on your home screen. Go off the edge and you can move which page its on.

All these mind boggling (for me anyway) instructions totally explains why  the similar type of phone I bought was consigned to a cupboard within a few weeks of my buying it and 2 years later still remains there.  It was described as a  smart phone but the reality was that it was the most stupid thing ever!

“I would also like to get the app that tells me how fast I'm going”

I find the being married App very good for many applications afloat

You’re going to fast !!!!!! or Slow down!!! Alarms are excellent speed notifications , plus the added bonus of inbuilt tea maker , wine pourer and bed warmer are definitely a positive feature .

Obviously like most Apps there are glitches like lack of volumn control and no off switch which can cause earache , plus the ability to read which upon reading this posting can cause a sharp pain in the nether regions

I think having 30 people talking at you in one go confuses matters, I tried to make it as simplistic as possible......having researched my friend Eminem :default_smiley-angelic002:

In truth though, as with anything it's awkward, until you've learned when to press where :default_biggrin:

Just to point out my last comment was meant in jest as everyone should expect of me by now, and not as criticism. Hope that was obvious.

Have you got sorted M&M's??? I'd say you could give me a ring to help you out, but I don't have the time to explain how you'd get to the number pad :default_biggrin:

Not getting very far here!  I tried your link (on the phone) Jay, and tapped "install" only to get the reply "This google account is not yet associated with a device. Please access the play store app on your device before installing apps. Learn more."

The "learn more" suggests loads of stuff to solve problems I don't have, but nothing for the problem I do have.

I have swiped to my right, to my left, up and down but am unable to find the "play store" app on my phone.

MM when you click my link (ooh err) this should open the play store to this page

If you press the back arrow at the top left which I've circled you should be taken to the homepage of the play store. Once again top left should bring up a menu where "account" is located and you can sign up.

You can also sign up Here (this link is secure) but you'll then need to login on your phone.
