My son-in-law asked his eldest daughter aged 9,  "Mollie, What are you going to give up for lent?. Mollie looking somewhat glum replied, What are you giving up Dad?.  He replied  "Well I'm giving up chocolate and wine" Looking even more downhearted Mollie replied "I suppose I'd better give up chocolate too and Doritos." Younger daughter aged 6 had been listening closely to this exchange  and when Dad asked her " Phoebe what are you going to give up for Lent?  quick as lightening she replied "Lent"

I gave up the ‘f word’ last year. Paid £1 for every failure and raised £20 for charity. Might do the same again.....backsliding has occurred through the year. 😋

I've given up tofu, couscous and quinoa (whatever that is) for Lent. I know I'm being brave but think it's worth the effort.

Never a borrower or LENDER be was one thing I was taught so I long ago gave up on lent.
