Very sad news. He was a really nice bloke and will be missed. Sincere condolences to his family.

Very sad news, I had the pleasure of meeting Boycee a couple of times and I even believe I did some work for him whilst at Trimnet. He was a gentleman. My thoughts go to his family and friends.

Stay safe everyone.

We have sent a sympathy card on behalf of NBN. I think Griff or Ray will let us know about tributes in due course.

It's funny how characters can have an influence on you because when I use to read his posts, I always had the legendary characters voice from only fools and horses in my head.

Came across as a nice person.

Ok, Update from Mrs Boycee (Mags)

Funeral arrangements will be notified as and when if they are allowed to have one  - C.V issues.

They are hoping to plan an event to mark his life sometime later on in the year on the Broads

Although I didn’t know him in person, his knowledge and sense of humour were clearly shown through his posts on the NBN , mine and Katie’s heartfelt condolences to his family at this sad time .

I would like to suggest that we do something along the lines of what was done with Iain.Perhaps using Broads chat.Of course getting the permission of  his wife.

A difficult reply to write this one.

Whilst I fully appreciate the sentiments behind Ian's suggestion there are differences between the two situations.

It would be very tempting to suggest such a move were made, when any member of any popularity were to die. This I believe would be inappropriate on several grounds, grounds which I think are best not to be aired, though I shall highlight one.

Iain was not only a popular member as was Boycee, but he was also a very frequent poster and he was a moderator of the very highest calibre.

There could be a danger that if every popular member were to be remembered in the way Broadscot is, firstly it would cease to be "special" but worse, it could end up being thought an insult if someone was not remembered in that way.

No, remember Boycee as the fine man and valued contributor he was.

So very well written, John. Thank you.

Both Iain and Alan were good friends of mine and and your final sentence says it all for me.

To them both I offer a toast for a life well-lived.  :default_beerchug:

I've only just seen this thread, very sad to see it.

Having met Alan a few times over the years and enjoyed his posts in various places I can say the world is definitely a poorer place without him.

Condolences to his family.
