What Have You Learnt From Lockdown

Recommended Posts

How wonderful nature is.   Despite this god awful virus,    sitting and watching the garden,   flowers still bloom,  birds still nest and have lovely fluffy babies , vegetables are coming on.   Good old Mother Nature.

Time is now unimportant I took my watch off when I got back from the boat in late March and not worn it since (I tend to do this when on holiday). Weekdays in the morning I am in the shed doing customer repairs, after lunch I go in the garden and it is in the garden all weekend. I was only out there for a couple of hours today it was rather cold.

I'm saving a fortune by drinking from Tesco rather than the pub. Worrying that is!

I've learned a lot about myself, my ethos, my prejudices my weaknesses.

I've learned a lot about other people, their ethics, their prejudices, their weaknesses.

and I've learned that I can forget about mine a lot quicker than I can forget about theirs.

Yeeee  Ha!

It might sound obvious but how much I'm missing boating. I've got used to my first hire of the year being in the spring. To have to postpone my April trip has hurt. Despite that though, I'm very grateful to be well and to be lucky enough to work from home.

Life is short, live it to the full.Tomorrow we may not be here. Not to take unnecessary risks.Too many have died often alone without family  to be there when they  pass.Still to many not worried if they get this disease or not.Thankfully most recover from this those not so lucky die a horrible death. It affect lungs heart, kidneys, liver. If you are lucky it may take weeks to fully recover.I have lived so far a fairly  good life.I want to live some more, I still have more to see and do.We all need one another.Just be careful . "It dont matter if I go and do that it wont hurt"?It may do.Normal life is on hold.I like millions want a return  to normal.A drink with friends on a Saturday  night,a visit to watch a film.Watching the Blues winning the cup.Westlife at Wembley. A sunny weekend on the broads. My life is my house with Marina, the garden that's it for now.WE must not take our life for granted if we do ,we may not live another day.lets stick together and beat this nasty nasty  disease. Take care and be safe.

How much money we used to spend in the pub.

How cheap Argos deliveries are (Less than £4 for same day delivery)

How much we spent on petrol.

How much I missed Chinese food (our local takeaway re-opened this week :default_beerchug: )

How much I have missed being close up with family - Always took that one for granted, who wouldn't?

Was there really that much that needed doing in and around our home? - Apparently so

Still have not learnt how to hang out washing on the line 'Correctly' I fear that is a science I will never master

I have learnt about how it must feel to be retired.  I like it, like it a lot,  Looking forward to that one

How easy it is to get to grips with a replacement washing machine - You only need to know one setting no matter what you put in it.  Isn't this right chaps?

Housework - You have been found out there ladies - It's easy!

How much I miss not having a dog

It's easy not to miss shooting / boating / Biking.  Just don't swell on the thought of them too much

I've enjoyed not visiting fuel filling stations

I'm amazed I've not had much toothache at all since late March - Bonus

Has it really been EIGHT weeks now?

And you will not be the only one Steve!

I think this lockdown will be the last straw for many borderline profit Pubs. Even regulars will be starting to see how much they put over the bar.

Suddenly those unaffordables, a holiday, camera, new set of golf clubs etc will start to look within reach as folk socialise in a different way and the beer comes from offsales.

Love my dogs and the walks with them

Love the area that I live because its so rural with an abundance of wildlife

Found so many new walks which I didnt even know existed

The local farm has fresh eggs and other items for sale and they even have a book shelf with a book swap system the villagers use (didnt know that either)

Appreciating what I have more as I have had the time to see and experience it

But cant wait to get back on the spinning wheel of life again and some normality

And especially cant wait for that drive to Brundall to start another Norfolk Broads experience

That I don't miss work one little bit - but I've known that since 2008 :default_norty:

Likewise - but since 2000! I have enjoyed the daffodils, tulips and bluebells in my garden this year. Usually we would be on the boat as much as possible between March and August but I have found springtime at home has lots of pluses.
