It's All Going To The Dogs

Recommended Posts

The beagles are chipped and tagged. One side of the tag has my phone number, the other side of the tag has the boats name and registration number. Being beagles, they have the potential to follow a scent wherever it will take them, although for beagles they are very well trained so will be off their leads if on a walk. You do have to keep an eye on them on the boat if you are moored up as they are great escape artists as the skipper of Malanka can vouch!

We've always had collies rough or border.

Our rescued border is snoring in his bed at the moment.

We are intending to get a rough collie next,  I've just reviewed rough collie rescue, no dogs available . Various sales sites, no dogs available, specialist exhibition breeders sites, no dogs available .

We are not in a hurry anyway,  so we'll just wait till the stupidity is over.

How many of us thought the same thing... that could be a long wait!

On the dog rescue front, it is a concern that they'll go from zero to full when some kind of normality returns.

I'll take this opportunity to introduce our new rescue dog, who came to live with us 10 days ago. Meet Danni, my new boss!

And welcome to the forum Danni- I’m sure you’ll have Ray around your paw in no time.

Has Danni been out on the boat yet-Getting a bit of wind in the fur??

Not yet Katie, letting her take her time with new things! At two years old she has never had a proper home in a house before, everything in her life is new. Thankfully after a few little accidents the house training is now showing results but she has no idea about stairs yet and I think she'll need to be confident with them before dealing with the big steps from transom to stern well.

Boating for many reasons has been a wash out for us this year so a bit more delay, especially while it's so busy, won't hurt. But really looking forward to some autumn and winter cruising with the new admiral 👍

I’m sure she will take it all in her stride- really sensible to give her time to settle by the sound of it. Lots of time for boating in the future with her :default_biggrin:

I’m angry and disappointed, along with my family and grandchildren.

We joined a GR working group on FB to hopefully welcome a new GR (gun / field stock)  to our family having said a sad farewell to our Macie (and 3rd) GR back in December 19.

We found a Lady on the group who’s dog was due a litter this month. We got vetted (quite right) and agreed a price of £2k. We assured her that the new GR would stay with us permanently and would be worked and a family addition

Then came notification of a price rise to £2:5k with the excuse to stop her dogs being sold on despite our agreement. I reluctantly agreed to this. Now today I received notification of another price rise to £3k, again despite our agreement.

This is blatant greed and proffeteering and I will not be held to ransom.

An agreement  / deal no matter the price should be honoured by both parties. She can keep ‘our’ dog

The search begins once again

Gutted and annoyed

The admin of the FB group has removed the member and informed other groups of their actions.

The good news is we may have as a result been offered another one. We will see

Griff

Totally disgraceful behaviour and makes me really angry as Im sure you are Griff. I’ll ask my brother if he knows of any reputable people. He has working cocker spaniels which I know isnt the breed you are after but he may know someone who does.
