All I can say is that this is the Len Funnell I have always known, ever since he first came to the Broads in the 1970s.

People think of him as a hard businessman and indeed he has had to be but he has also done an awful lot for the Broads over the years.  A gesture like this is typical of him and I applaud it.

My dealings with Len have always been a pleasure. He provided help and information in my early years of Freedom and I am very pleased to know him. I am well aware of how some view him, but he's been an important part of the Broads for 40 years or more and the industry would likely not have advanced as it has without him. He's a good businessman and a generous one in my experience.
