JanetAnne
Beccles Wooden Broads Cruiser Show 2021 Just a few lines from me at the minute regarding next years little get together. Yes I know its a bit early to be thinking about such things but, for some reason, blame lockdown or something, I keep getting asked for next years dates! Of course, when I got the calendar out and worked everything out I could see why people were not sure. These days we attend Beccles on the second Saturday of the month and, when you look at 2021, this is the year we jump back so show day is on Saturday the 14th. That means the 2021 Beccles Wooden Broads Cruiser Show is officially from the 11th to the 15th of August. Is now a good time to mention that this means we will be cruising on Friday the 13th...? gulp. Invitations to attend will be coming out at the beginning of January as usual but in the meantime here is a selection of piccys from a previous year. 8
BroadAmbition
Nice one, Tks for the heads up. Assuming we get an invite, (Fingers crossed) we intend to be there. I've put the dates on 'B.A's diary, our social diary and my chuffin work diary too. Something real positive and exciting to look forward too at last. For 'B.A' and her crew, this is the annual highlight for us as we combine it with a fortnight afloat, for 2021 we intend to be afloat for nineteen days (Gets my B'day onboard too - Bonus) Also during the same spell afloat we are hoping to have all of our five grandchildren onboard (But not all at the same time). Purdy dog of course and at last towing 'B.A's tender with us too, that means, rowing, sailing and using the outboard too Bring it on, can't wait. Lets hope the wx is as good as it was this year. AndyTBoater
I am in the process of fitting 2 new pieces of wood now. I estimate that my boat will be 26.5% wood by August. Can I come and play again please? Vote Marmalade for free ice creams!!!
JanetAnne
Here is our latest update with some more specific details of the event along with where to see the boats this year. Stracey, Oulton Broad and Beccles will all have visitor moorings available (we haven't pinched them all... honest) though it may be worth phoning them first. See you there Beccles Wooden Broads Cruiser Show 11th - 15th August 2021 Newsletter 4 - June 2021 Hello Everyone! Will we, wont we, can we, should we? The joys of event organisation rumbles on amidst a backdrop of the continued threat of changes to what we are or arn't allowed to do because of covid. I think this must be, over the preceeding weeks, the fourth or fifth attempt at this newsletter! Being in the fortunate position of having someone 'in the know' (you wooden boat owners do come from a very wide and varied range of backgrounds for which I am very grateful) we are now seemingly pretty confident that our 2021 event will be able to proceed but may possibly still be subject to 'covid safe site' regulations as we were last year. As I have said before, none of us can commit 100% in the current situation and, just like last year, it's understandably all a bit up in the air once again, but here's our proposed itinerary for this August. Wednesday 11th pm Gathering at Stracey Arms. Dawn, who runs the place is going to lay on an evening bbq for those of us who want it. Some of the southern based boats are going to come north and join in. Thursday 12th Cruise in company from Stracey Arms across Breydon and on to Oulton Broad. Moorings are block booked at Oulton Broad Yacht Station for Thursday night. Friday 13th Cruise in company to Beccles. Leaving Oulton Broad about 11:00. Last years show winner has the (dubious) honour of leading this years cruise so Nipper will be lead boat for 2021. Friday 13th evening. Help! We have been very kindly lent the NBN forum marquee so will be seeking able bodies who know what they are doing to help both erect the marquee on the Friday evening as well as take it down Sunday afternoon. Volunteers please step forward... Saturday 14th Show day! Yay! I love show day. Saturday evening. As many of you know, we normally have a bring and share evening but were unable to do so last year. At this time we are advised to see what happens with regards to regulations for 2021 before committing. I will let you know after the gov announce where we are in their July easing of restrictions etc etc Sunday 15th Tims boat jumble. Having lost his 2020 event, Tim is putting together a boat jumble for 2021. Also in attendance on the day will be a display by Broads Beat who will be offering security advice and answering related questions on aspects of policing the broads. East of England Ambulance Service are also coming along and will be demonstrating their service. So far the following boats have booked in for 2021 with just a couple of places now left. Broad Ambition Malanka Judith M Broadland Grebe Fairstar Judith Merlin Admiral Jack Lady Helena Lovejoy Finale Water Rail Silver Emblem 2 Merrywind Monas Queen Mystic Melody Ruby (Herbert Woods) Emily B Kingfisher Tabitha Rose Luna Aurora (Photography Boat) Chloe Jane Manxman Nipper Royal Tudor Georgia Ruby Brookwind Bollysnigh Chameleon Missouri Star It's going to be quite a weekend!
