Also is it just me who looks for 'our' old boats(ones hired and owned) or indeed ourselves in these old pics?

It's not just you. I love pointing out boats we've had before - particularly Contessa from Richardson's (my first and favourite). I get for too excited seeing her! Sadly, I think all of the boats from my childhood are off fleet so are very hard to spot. Craig's database has been great for tracking down the ones in private ownership (that I can remember!).

Sarah Louise of Scenic Broads Keyholder Scheme at Neatishead, July 2007 - we only stayed on her overnight and didn't join the scheme but it was the impetus for us to buy in to shared ownership at a later date.1488578904_20070117ChrisSarahLouiseNeatishead.thumb.JPG.29684dc2fff6798e76c665709d5f9a27.JPG

After all these years we couldn't keep away, so whilst on a caravan holiday in June this year we had a full day on Bittern from Whispering Reeds, Hickling

Will have to find a way to have more time on the Broads especially as I have finally found somebody who can steer a straight line - my seven year old granddaughter Jessica.

That Sarah Louise looks interesting! Don't think I have ever seen one like that before,

A friend at the Rugby Club when we lived in Bucks had a forward drive cruiser, not that big but it had a nice flybridge arrangement. It lived at Harleyford after her had sold her. I think it might have been a Sheerline.

Sarah Louise was owned originally by Kingfisher cruisers at Thorpe after which she went to Line Azzura at Marina Keys, Gt Yarmouth. From there she went to Scenic Broads at Wayford Bridge.

After that I don't know what happened to her but Craig mentions Boatline and DRL Marine.

I think there were originally two built with slightly different layouts.

Sarah Louise had the engine under the rear steering position between two double bedrooms. You had to be pretty supple to get into the rear bedrooms, which as you can see from the pic showing the windows at the rear, were low down and quite compact.

This is the one I think. Badged as Dream Time at DRL.

The cap badge looks like P&O and that also looks like a voice pipe at the helm position.

So maybe the Canberra or perhaps the Oriana.

It is, indeed, the Oriana! Well spotted! We managed to recreate the picture a couple of years ago with my kids on Oceana, the wheel is about 10” across!

Fabulous post, Roy, thanks for taking the time to put all the photos and captions together. White Champagne and Pink Champagne have been at Richardsons so long I'd forgotten where they originated from but you've just reminded me. I remember the Mixer Marine name but where exactly at Stalham were they located?
