Thurne Sunrise

Recommended Posts

Got up early hoping to catch a nice sunrise at Thurne wind pump.

The sun didn't really play ball but got a few reasonable shots anyhow.

Now back on board Lady Emma drying my shoes and socks off on the oil filled radiator, ground was a bit err..........damp:50_open_mouth:

you gotta be there to get good photos and so many good landscapes require you to be there early for the best light.

That’s one benefit of the winter months - sunrise is at a much less antisocial time than during the summer!!  Not only that, but less river traffic means a better chance of a mirrored surface to the water and better reflections, not to mention a different quality to the light.

Here's one from back in 2008 on an NBN photo day...

Taken on the 21st December (winter solstice) at 7:30AM. 30 second exposure and shot on my old 10MP Nikon D80.

Shame I no longer have the RAW as I think that would come up a bit more with a bit of HDR.
