USB charging panel

Recommended Posts

With most mobile 'phones, MP3 players etc. now being capable of being charged via a USB port I was interested to see this in one of my trade supplier catalogues, it wires into the 12vDC circuit and matches the other Berker AC mains, TV outlets etc that I use so will be a neat fit, I think I'll fit one to my ship to see if it does what it says on the tin.

Looks usefult for the boat-owner who wants USB power.

For those of us without room to fit a dedicated USB socket (or in my case without a boat of my own to fit anything into!)

I find this 12V to USB adapter useful:

And at £2.99 inc postage it is very cheap.

Came unstuck last weekend though, went out on an "Upmarket" boat with an invertor and 240 Volt sockets

There wasn't any 12v socket! :oops::oops:

check the voltage range it work on, when your engine is running your up to 14.5v ish if the unit needs a contant 12v then it might not like the extra voltage. If the unit needs a constant voltage it can still be done but you would need a voltage regulator.
