Nbn Meet 15th May. Allowed To Stay On Boats 17th May. Any Ideas?

the big question is will gatherings (informal or formal be allowed, the meet will of necessity bring many people together in self contained accommodation (cant think of a better description of that than a boat) but when we arrive, will we all need to set up a barrier round the stern of our boats?, or will we by the time we are all at salhouse be able to mix?

The rule of six outdoors is re-introduced on the 29th March and on the 17th May is scrapped. At the same time, up to a 1000 people or half full at indoor sports venues and up to 4000 people or half full allowed at outdoor venues. 

You will be 48hrs shy of such a massive rule change it is very debatable a small gathering in Norfolk is going to compare to potentially 4000 people meeting in a football stadium 48 hrs later.

Technically I guess it would be against the law, but I would suggest it is very much down to your conscience, ultimately if the rules are being relaxed 48 hrs later, your not going to make much difference in the grand scheme of things. If the government feels happy at letting multiple meetings of quite large crowds to occur from the 17th May, is anyone going to worry about a minor misdemeanor the Saturday before. Especially if it's not shouted from the rooftops.

On the other hand, the optimistic view is the vaccine is doing it's job. We didn't have that last time around, and the rates continue to fall and the dates start to feel like we could have moved faster but are being sensible. I must confess at this stage nightclubs open on the 21st June seems very optimistic, but you have to consider no dates were set last year for the remainder of society to open up. That has to be seen as a government more sure than last year of how things could progress. Lets hope so. I cannot wait to get back in a night club again 

Actually to be honest the one thing I really want to be able to do is just stand at the bar again. Yes I was glad when pubs opened again last year, but it just never quite got back to normal. Being able to stand up after a meal and have a final pint or two at the bar and chat with whoever has been really missed.

As it stands , the proposed meet date is two days prior to the relaxing of the legislation permitting outside gatherings and as such it would be ill advised for the NBN to promote or sanction such a gathering , unless the current rules change I cannot see the NBN meeting taking place officially .

yes, advertising an event like this on social media is equivalent to shouting it from the rooftops, and also this forum cannot be seen to be promoting something illegal no matter how minor, nothing preventing people from meeting mates but nothing official is planned and nothing even in the pipeline.

The only thing we have  penciled in.Is a five day trip to Cornwall in June.All being well that will get the go ahead.Will have to wait  and see. I just hope people  act responsibly and take care.That way we may have a better spring/summer.

Perhaps see how things go over the next few weeks, could there be a chance of a meet later in the year?  I’d vote for the last weekend in August but that’s mainly because we will on the northern Broads then!  😉

If we can't all gather off the boat, why not all stay on our boat but still attend the meet and have a BBQ at the stern of our boats. At least we can all be together. 😀. Better than nothing.

Remember the dates mentioned were "no sooner than", they are not certain and rely on numbers doing as expected, those dates could change very easily.

The May date is too soon to do the NBN meet. Later in the year sounds much more realistic. 
What can happen now is that the planning can get going and give people something to look forward to.

If we stay on our boats or stay and sit on our boats or at the stern,  surley we are not gathering? We are allowed self accommodation, which is what we are doing. We are not all gathering. I think the rule of 6 will be in effect, so friends could meet up to that amount and socialise, or we could send hand signals to boats further away. 

Is there a time when we will know if the May meet is cancelled?

After weighing all of the information available to me, from official and unofficial government sources, checking with all local authorities and landowners as well as members of the NBN Ents team members there will be no official NBN Meet this year. There are far too many 'ifs', 'possibly's', 'might's', 'should's' and 'could's' and 'thou shalt not's' to make a meet viable for the remainder of this year. Instead we will take the time to make sure that all permissions, precautions and conditions are in place and plan for a spectacular meet next year that will be open to all members.

That's a shame as I had a chance of making a resheduled meet in August but I fully understand and support the reasons behind this decision.

We won't be on Moonlight next May so when we have a date I'll start working on a weekend pass !!
