Guest
Hi to everyone, we are looking forward to a week on the Swan Raider in a few days. It's the first time I have handled a broads a boat of any size since a school trip on the wherry Albion many moons ago (it was still fitted out with hammocks in those days) If anyone has hired the Raider in the past can it get under all bridges? We are hoping to get to the Geldeston locks. Any tips would be most welcome. "Left hand down a bit"

Thanks David, that's a much nicer way of saying anorak! Swan Raider will go under the bridges if you remember to lower the canopy & windscreens! At Potter Heigham & Wroxham there are pilots to take her under that you must use, and it saves you worrying about emerging the other side with a re-shaped aft cabin! I would think she should get under fairly well at this time of year, but remember to check the heights on the guage marker as you approach as it will vary a bit depending on tides etc. Potter Heigham would be very tight/iffy and often only passable if luck is on your side, so it might be worth a phone call to the pilots office there a few days before your holiday to see if it looks at all possible and if so when you'd need to get there. Swancraft have a good name for well presented, decent boats so i'm sure you'll have a great holiday with them. I'll have a look if I have any pictures of 'Raider when I get home to help you get in the holiday mood All the best Dan
Guest
Thanks Dan and David, David Bowie once sang "from Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads". These are our two favourite places on earth and one of them is on our doorstep, unfortunately Ibiza has overpriced itself lately so we hope to spend our hols on the broads each year instead. i know we won't be disappointed.
