Vacuum Storage Bags

does anyone use the vacuum storage bags, I bought some yesterday to store some of my ex's clothes until she decides if she wants them or not, the problem I had was i got the first bag out, within 10 seconds one of my cats that just loves chewing plastic had put a couple of vampire punctures through the side of the bag, I patched this up and started loading up the jumbo bag (tone of room, and one of the other cats decided to squeeze past the bag, in the process putting his claws through the bag and ripping a huge hole, no sticking duct tape over that one, so...

anyway, does anyone use the smaller bags when packing to go on board, for instance to reduce the size of stuff in their suitcase / travel bag?, or for storing linens over winter?

We do Grendel. Especially for storing bedding and towels etc. over the winter at the caravan. Very useful.

Do they come with a pump or do they need a vacuum cleaner?

Thinking of getting some myself.

they come with a pump that runs from a USB cord, but it takes forever with the largest bags, i tried the vacuum cleaner and it was way quicker, just dont let any cats near them. they do shrink down clothes into a much smaller space.

Vacuum bags MM, why would you pump air in!

We've used them, great for towels and spare clothes as you can leave them onboard for ages with no damp worries, you could probably use a 12v dinghy pump much quicker than the supplied pump.

Just stop trying to store the cats in them.

Re the ripped hole, try super glue around the outside of the hole and folding the bag over the hole.

We use them to store the bedding , towels and cushions between visits to the boat

Everything laundered vacuum packed and ready to go later this month. I put the pillows in the bags and seal them but don't fully vacuum them down as in the past that have not always recovered their original shape and firmness.

Perhaps using the duck tape on the cats might improve things.

Some do and some ........

We use a vacuum cleaner to expel the air , you can also get hand or foot pumps separately , these come with hand pump

but using a vacuum is far less effort and is faster

We use them all the time for to-ing and fro-ing boat stuff and for storage at home (Kathy is a crafter and wool-hoarder)🙄. We got a cheap 12v inflatable canoe pump that sucks as well as blows for use on board.
