Norfolk Soft Tap Water

Why is Norfolk Tap Water is so Soft and where does this come from to get like that?I live in Essex our Water is Hard as the Kettle gets fur up .

Depends where you are in Norfolk , much of Norfolk is Hard water too, particularly Norwich where the water is drawn from the chalk layers below..

 Most of Norfolk water is classed as hard so much so we had a water softener fitted last year. It’s one of the few things I miss from the Manchester area.

kent water is so hard,  have boiled a brand new kettle once and got limescale.

Our water is so hard , soft water had to go around in pairs

I think you'll find the hard water is actually the bottom of the river, best to stay in the softer bit near the surface.

Kent water is dire, you’re so right. We were having to de-fur the kettle every couple of days until, around 20 years ago, we started using a Brita Water Filter. Not de-scaled the kettle at home since. However, up here on the boat, that’s a different story!

We use one of those little wire ball things they sell in Lathams on the boat and at home. We also use a brita water filter onboard, it makes a big difference. At home it goes like a lump of chalk in a few months, onboard it gets exhanged once a year even if it doesn't need to.
