Antares_9
We're here now - came up yesterday morning to Lowestoft - and had good trip apart from just N of Southwold when it kicked up a bit - but boats handled it all as per normal - and got the 14:30 through Lowestoft and got to Beccles yesterday pm and then had a great dinner at Bear & Bells. Will have a trip up to Geldeston in the dinghies later before heading off tomorrow. Not sure where but aim to be on the N Broads for Friday for birthday and wedding anniversary celebrations with a few other forumites
senator
There is a fairly new place in Beccles up by the Church called the Swan House. Worth a visit if you are eating out tonight. Ate there a few weeks ago with Gav and Annie and was very impressed with both the food and the level of service. Similar prices to Bear and Bells. Will Keep an eye out for you as we leave the Broads on Saturday. probably through Yarmouth and down to Hamilton for the night before heading down to your neck of the woods on Sunday, weather permitting. It was always good when we used to go Ian - Still get e-mails from them The Bear & Bells is back to its very best after a few years in the wilderness. Have a good trip south
senator
Maybe it is not so new then have never noticed it before and it gave the impression of being newly opened, perhaps it has had a bit of a refit. Enjoy the rest of your Broads sabbatical, hope the weather holds up for you.
Jupes
The Bear and Bells is under the same ownership as The Bell at St Olaves and The Plough at Blundeston.
Antares_9
We always liked the Bell at St. Olaves so might give it a look on the way down if we think we can get under the bridge. It's really nice to decide where we want to go and just do it again instead of always looking for a weather window, I remember the attraction of "turn up and go" boating now but not as a permenant situation. One thing that has been noticable is the quality of the hireboat handling, really quite impressed with peoples gently does it manouvering (mind you we still have to go north yet). We've both sorted our NBN membership conditions now as we have come west of Mutford so are OK again for another three years. :naughty. Off out in the tenders to clean Jimbo's ship's waterline and a ride up to the Locks later. Had one of Clive's ships, Broads Harmony come in and park beutifully next to us and it has proper string instead of the usual baler twine, but you need to take the knots out of the port stern one Clive. pks1702
Moored up enjoying the sunshine before a pint and something to eat. I can vouch that the boat handling on the north does not match the south

Swordfish
Hi Perry and David, Thanks for coming up to the broads, you must have brought the sunshine with you. It was a great day on the river today, much more like the summer we should be having at this time of the year. Paul
Palmtree
Hi, Kingfisher and Kiki made it up to Ranworth Island at the weekend. Perry (pks1702) organized a multiple BBQ test Friday night, and Saturday had 5 going at once David (Antares 9) and Gertie kept an eye on the boating skills on the Broad. Saturday night developed in to a mini meet with people dropping in to say hello and staying to enjoy the company Ian
