Breydon Water is currently closed to hire craft due to adverse conditions created by the high wind and tides.

 

We will re-assess once high water has passed this afternoon.

I can understand high winds having an adverse effect on hirecraft wanting to transit over Breydon, but why would high tides be detrimental? assuming they can clear the bridges or just maybe they want a trip over Breydon there and back without going under the bridges at the yacht station - Unless of course the channel posts can no longer be seen? - Seems like it has no effect on private craft

To be fair its usually the wind that is more of a problem, unless its also wind over tide, which would make it quite fun.

Hi as these cruisers are flat bottom with out the Keel underneath as a few Year's ago in the Summer when Breydon was so flat crossing great untill some Speeding Twit Craft came wizzing past and made our Boat a long with a few others go up and down like a yo yo blimey the made me feel a bit queasy so I now know what's it like out in Breydon .

The water is still choppy due to the wind so please exercise care and caution whilst crossing.
