Encouraging News

The papers are full of all news about poor service being given from hospitals, particulary cancer sufferers where Covid  is overriding everything else it seems so I thought I would share my present experience to show it is not all gloom and doom.  I recently had a mammagram that showed up a 3cm area of calcification. I had a tumour  removed back in 2005. I  was sent for a consultation early last month and the outcome was that further tests on the present situation deduced that it was not cancerous but left to its own devices could possibly become so in the future therefore it has to come out. Not the news I was hoping for, however I have been given an operation date of October 25th which I think is a very reasonable time and to date I have had one face to face consultation with  a dedicated nurse to offer all information  and support with an always available telephone number to call if I get anxious and so far 3 phone calls for the same purpose from 3 different support nurses- to offer support and to enquire if I need help with stress or anxiety. I think this level of service is superb. It is very reassuring to feel that one matters even when one is getting a little long in the tooth which it must be acknowledged I certainly am!
