The Chronicles Of The Sally Marie

Cruising along the Norfolk Broads,
On the beautiful Sally Marie.
The sweet sound of the birds in the sky,
And breathtaking views to see.

We travelled from Stalham to Acle,
Enjoying our delightful cruise,
We saw ducks, swans and an otter,
Such amazing, wonderful views.

On Sunday for something different,
We headed to the city of Norwich,
My husband was in charge of the wheel,
Whilst I cooked breakfast, a croissant and porridge.

The cathedral in Norwich looked stunning,
The grand spire proudly towered in the sky,
As the sun slowly set and the night drew in,
The alluring hoot of owls passed by.

Monday we moored at Hardley Cross,
And took a relaxing walk together.
Unfortunately the footpath was closed,
So the walk went on forever and ever.

The hike may have been long and tiring,
But was actually amazingly pleasant.
We saw partridges, snakes and a deer,
and a radiant, colourful pheasant.

On Wednesday we had guests in Beccles,
My parents, their dog and our son.
We took our boat of visitors
On a voyage to gorgeous Geldeston.

The trip was wonderfully peaceful,
So relaxing enjoying the view.
A kingfisher glided across the water,
A flash of vibrant, electric blue.

We had fish and chips for supper.
Then my family got ready to go.
We watched the beautiful sunset,
The comforting fire red glow.

On Wednesday we steamed downstream,
To the picturesque  Berney mill.
The water was glowing, the sun shining bright,
The day was incredibly still.

Feeling content we went for a walk,
Across the green stretching marshes of Berney.
My calm little mood soon turned to panic,
When a herd of cows hurtled towards me.

I don’t think I’ve ever run so fast,
My screams could be heard for a mile.
My heart pounded fast, my legs turned to jelly
As I quickly lunged myself over  a style.

Our Friday adventures took us over Breydon
We moored at Boundry farm.
We saw cormorants, herons and swans,
The water was sublime and calm.

Saturday we headed back to Stalham,
Time to go home to see our son and our daughter.
We said goodbye to the Sally Marie,
Feeling refreshingly relaxed from our trip on the water.
