No problem - if you need to re-align the engine you just undo the mounting nut by about a quarter inch and then lever the engine up at that corner, to place shims under the foot. It is surprising how useful a rond anchor can be on these occasions! They are also very good for tensioning alternator belts . . .

BroadAmbition
You won't catch me abusing one of our rhond anchors in such a way I had a workshop manual and parts manual for a 72c also, gave it away free to Toby at Stalham last month as I have no intention of working on 'B.A's Borg Warner internals Griff

Vaughan
Sorry about the various scans but it was in different columns on 2 pages. Courtesy of Lowestoft College of Marine Engineering. It is sometimes not realised how important it is to align the engine to the shaft to avoid damage, especially to the gearbox.

mikeyboy1966
Next question, My broom 30 has two toilets, the forward one,is a manual pump one, and the loo can either go into the holding tank for pump out,or overboard via a diverter. the rear loo is an electric flush which at present goes straight out overboard. im not sure of the rules on the Ouse but the marina has no pump out which is a bit of a pain.. my question, to allow the rear electric flush loo to go into the holding tank as well, is it ok to fit a y connector to the existing holding tank pipe and simply join into that or do both loos need a separate pipe all the way to the tank. im also going to replace the front manual pump one for an electric flush in the near future, it will mean a 45min cruise to a pump out facility but the facilities at home base are really good so the onboard toilets will only get used when cruising anyway and can be pumped when homeward bound. Smoggy
One the gt.ouse I'd fit a diverter as pumpouts are few and far between, you are still allowed to discharge and lots do.
ChrisB
Every boat that I have had the pleasure to be aboard on the RGO has been direct discharge. I have often wondered when I see vessels on The Broads, their windshield festooned in GOBA yearly windpump stickers if they are compliant. Vaughan
I don't think I would recommend connecting the two to the tank via the same pipe. It should be all right in theory but if either of them has worn seals, you might end up with a blow back! 2
mikeyboy1966
Next job, the cabin floor, it has a fitted carpet which is ok when just in the marina but not conducive to cruising. whatever was originally laid had long since gone
mikeyboy1966
I would have liked to use the holly/teak laminate but had a few sheets of robbins elite ply knocking around so I laminated this to the deck boards. I used danboline bilge paint on the underside and about 5 coats of varnish. I forgot to take any photos of the whole floor but you get the general idea.
mikeyboy1966
I also fitted some decent sound proofing to the underside, again no photos . a huge improvement over the original stuff
mikeyboy1966
You know how it is when you get a daft idea in your head i fancied getting a dinghy or tender to explore the parts of the river we couldn’t get to with the big boat, I spotted this on eBay and a deal was struck. Its too big to use as a tender but will make an excellent day boat. complete with road trailer, launching trailer,a Yamaha 5hp outboard. been sat in this garage for 20 years
mikeyboy1966
Once I’d cleaned it ,it became apparent that the topsides had been sprayed , my attempts to machine polish just went straight through the thin paint. I also wasn’t happy with the plywood seats so now it’s a bit of a project
mikeyboy1966
As the boat had only been used on the sea there is no deck hardware for tying up . I intend it to be a river boat so mooring cleats are essential. I got my semi tame fabricator/welder to make me some replicas of the existing row locks in stainless with cleats built in. proper job
