Suggestion For Links To Forum Sponsors

Recommended Posts

Can I make a technical suggestion for the Forum ?

At the moment, if you click a link to one of the Forum sponsors your browser page is taken away from the Forum and goes to the sponsors page.

It may be better to set the link to "open in a new browser tab" with the sponsors page, so you don't lose where you are on the Forum and can carry on reading from where you were.

There will probably be a setting on the link option to say "open in new tab"

Why not just right click and select open in a new tab from dropdown menu, also to return to the forum page just righr click and click the back arrow,, simples

Yes, you can do that on a computer, but it is not the 'natural' click with a mouse, and not sure how you do that on a touch screen like a phone or tablet.

Also, if you have continued browsing on the sponsor site, it is more 'back' clicks to the Forum.

Typically in website design, you don't take people away from the site on an external link, you open a new tab.

Yeah it's a fair point. Actually the adverts sidebar is our own custom bit of code (there was nothing that did quite what we needed) so we could easily add a target=”_blank” to it.
