Jim
Am I right in saying that is Heavy Lifts Antonov John? Thanks for the post Gav. Takes me back to the time I first lived in the area
MY littleboat
I'll wait for the expert comment on that but if my suspicions are right it was bigger than an antanov! Rod - a younger John? I dunno, does he have one arm leaning out of the window with an ice White teethed grinning pose?
Jim
It looks like that video covers a period from 1980 onwards for a few years. The Shuttle arrived in June 1983 and it was quite a day.
MY littleboat
I suspect it was added in there. However I noticed it was made by Michael Rodds own production company (a true Alan Partridge type) By the was Jim the aeroplane, I believe, was Johns Belfast! Jim
Interesting stuff Gav and I'm going to have a good trawl through the other archive you posted a link to. One of the main BAA buildings at Stansted is called Enterprise House and is named after the shuttle they flew in there back in

However I noticed it was made by Michael Rodds own production company (a true Alan Partridge type) By the was Jim the aeroplane, I believe, was Johns Belfast! Yes, Gav, it was. I couldn't locate this pic I took back then until tonight but I was there! They moored her over on the Freight side as was then where the old terminal was.... STN was a quiet backwater in those days! MY littleboat
The keen eye!!! I had a suspicion it may have been!! Hope it bought back a memory or two! Sadly a poor photo below, but another I found trawling the web, taken leaving IAT Fairford Circa 1987! And oddly - and spookily I've just realised something... The Belfast appears at 6:58 in the film and the film number is....658.. which means... ...
