dom
I'm still constantly trawling the secondhand market for a boat to buy, including a couple of days driving around anywhere I can think to try, but not really finding much which catches my attention. Just wondering if there are any brokers on the broads who don't have much presence online which I might be overlooking. I've tried: NYA Brundall and Horning Waterside Potter Heigham NBS Brundall and Wroxham Norfolk Boats at Horning Considering how many boats there are on the broads, and how many sit there neglected slowly going green, there seem to be very few actively for sale. Can anyone recommend anywhere else? Just wondering if there's anywhere Trowse/Norwich area, Beccles, or elsewhere on the southern broads I might not know about. ExSurveyor
Boatshed Norfolk and Suffolk. There is very little on the market, plenty of ski type boats and large boats but not a lot in the middle.

Boats are frequently cheaper on maybe The Great Ouse or The Thames. One of the Forum sponsors specialises in boat transport and will quote for transfer to The Broads. There does appear to be a ‘Broads premium’ for craft on the Broadland waterways.
Turnoar
If you see something slowly going green that takes your fancy then leave a note, just knock first in case there’s someone onboard! Can be a more expedient route to finding exactly what you want with potential to take over moorings etc.

Troyboy
I'm the same domain. I'm always checking the classifieds to see what's for sale. Is it worth stating your budget and type of boat that you are looking for. Someone might know of a boat that is available but not advertised. WherryNice
Wayford Marine, Marine Tech, Rowan Craft and StayGB have websites of their own with boat sales sections, Sutton Staithe use ApolloDuck(search Sutton Staithe in AD website.). Topsail are similar to Boatshed but on a much smaller scale mainly doing sailing boats but do list cruisers as well. Ebay & Gumtree sometimes have a few Broadsy boats available(an ex Aston/Freedom cruiser is currently on Ebay for example.) If I remember any more I'll add them later.

Preferably 2 permanent cabins. Centre cockpit or sedan, not a single level/forward control 'bathtub'. Ideally £30-40k. Must go under Ludham bridge. If it goes under Wroxham even better. There was a Sancerre 33 on the Ouse which was attractive, but someone's put a deposit down on it, just as I was about to seriously consider an offer. Alphacraft 35s are another option which I plan on trying to view soon.

dom
I've looked at the Aquafibre in quite a lot of detail. It's very shabby and needs a full repaint, which isn't unexpected at the price, but the propshaft and gearbox was a bigger concern. Its last survey showed up an issue with the alignment of the engine and bearers, potentially putting the Halyard flexible coupling under excessive load. It also had a bit of a gearbox rumble at low rpm in forward drive, which made me wonder if the output shaft bearings had been damaged by the misalignment. I might still consider an offer on it, but I think it's a bit of a risk.
Regulo
I had an Aquafibre 32, and that nya one has a weird layout. The galley on most is separate from the cabin seating area. I believe that's ex-H.Woods originally?
dom
I've seen a couple with this layout, rather than the more usual galley down. This one came from the Thames, via the Ouse before ending up on the broads. It seems to have had a really cheap fitout originally. There's bare fibreglass in the heads, just painted over with a bit of gelcoat. I thought someone may have done the usual trick of stripping stuff out, but not being able to replace, but seeing it in the flesh, it looks like it's always been that way. marshman
Broads cruisers nearly always go at a premium simply because over the last 20 years or so the stock continues to decline with so few new boats coming out of the sheds, particularly in that size range. Demand always outstrips supply!!! Even for 25 yr old Broads boats you will probably need to up your budget by some margin - its also a difficult size range - halfway between the two markets of sub 30 footers and then the 35' and above. Dont forget that boats like the Sancerre are probably knocking on 50 yrs or more these days, although you may be lucky to find a good one! marshman
As far as the AF at Waterside I would say any remedial work is probably built into the price!!!
Captain
The bulk of the original Sancerres were built between 1977 and 1980 ish by Bondons of South Walsham, around 16 were built for hire then plus some private builds although Russell Marine who took over Bondons built few more in the early 2000s inc one for hire. From my travels on the Broads and Fens I would guess a good half of those built now reside on the Great Ouse and Cam. With regard to A/F 32 with the side galley, a number were built on or for the Thames hire operators, although these tended to be early examples cc 1983 rather than 1988, Caversham boat Services at Reading have one still on hire.
