Hylander
If my memory serves me right, on the way to Wayford Bridge you pass a what used to be a rather impressive looking (quite Romanesque) building with white pillars. I was always told this used to be used in the first world war as a sanitorium. How true that one is , is up for question. Has anyone heard anything similar. I may have got the wrong colour but if I recall it is green and white. Is now in disrepair.
Happy
I know the building you are talking about which seems quite out of place where it is. As for its history I have no idea unfortunately.

BrundallNavy
It’s a private residence although I haven’t see them for a while. I can ask around to see if I can find some history. 3
MargeandParge
It was an isolation hospital . I think for scarlet fever. Kindest Regards Marge and Parge
YnysMon
Coo, how interesting. It’s a shame that it looks quite tatty now. Last time we passed it just looked like a dumping ground for tat.
Hylander
I was told it was taken over and used in the WW1 as a Sanitorium. I am really interested in the history of the Broads and this obviously has an interesting past. Someone did ask the question , does the glass window show the sign of the Knights Templar?

BrundallNavy
Interesting the pillars are not original but were taken from a shop front and fitted later. They are made of fibre glass. 3

grendel
My Grandad passed away from TB just after I was born, I was given the vaccine and he got to see me before he passed- but that caused all sorts of ructions in later life with school innoculations, as naturally I came up positive on the scratch test when everyone else was innoculated.
