Graham47
The following information can be seen on Broads Authority Facebook page. Notice - Unfortunately due to staffing issues there will not be a Quay Ranger present at Reedham Quay from today 10 July to Sunday 14 July. The mooring remains open as normal. If you require any assistance please call Broads Control on 01603 756056. 3 2
Meantime
Now it's just a thought, but since Ranworth is a far safer mooring, couldn't they ask the ranger there to relocate to the more tidal Reedham, where assistance with mooring and setting ropes correctly is more important! Off course I realise they don't yet make any money out of mooring fees at Reedham, but surely safety comes first!

I have to say that both Craig & Dave at Reedham are very helpful guys.
BroadAmbition
there will not be a Quay Ranger present at Reedham Quay from today 10 July to Sunday 14 July. Ooh goodness me, however will we manage? Off course I realise they don't yet make any money out of mooring fees at Reedham, but surely safety comes first! You would hope so, however if no one is relocated from a paying mooring site - There will be you answer Griff

That was my initial thought too, but then I did wonder if it’s more of a ‘’specialist’ role at Reedham.

No the specialist role is at Ranworth fleecing those who moor for a mooring fee on what should be a free mooring! 5
MargeandParge
Perhaps The Good Doctor could step in." Oh sorry he's not qualified to help or deal with boaters. " Kindest Regards Marge and Parge
Hylander
How come they have both gone off sick or whatever at the same time. As has been said, secondment of one of the other Rangers to assist at the quay. One that can wield a paint brush or a drill would be useful.

We have a few people off at work with Covid which seems to be making a comeback. 1 1

It gave me confidence to moor there knowing they would be around to help out and to check our ropes. And they were happy to help us get away the following morning as well, whatever the weather.
Broads01
I completely agree. In my experience they're friendly and knowledgeable. They tend to tie all your ropes unprompted and it's a valuable service giving peace of mind. I'm disappointed there isn't sufficient cover at the height of the summer.
Smoggy
From what I've heard tonight (moored in reedham) Dave (Irish guy) is on pre booked leave and Craig is on the sick, I did hear more on the latter one but not about to repeat online as it's not my business.
Wonderwall
Let's not forget. All services are at breaking point. So I don't see why the BA would be any different. It is the world we live in just now, and we can only hope it improves.

Hopefully he will be back to good health soon. 2
Smoggy
As an aside, reedham Bridge Currently has both flags flying as people are working on the bridge, so if you have a high airdraft forget it.
dom
One thing which was interesting to see was photos from a boater moored at Reedham last night, which showed boats really packed in with little to no gaps. I've not been there on a Saturday night in season for years but it looked, if anything, as if they were managing to get more boats in mooring without a ranger.
Woodie
Moored there last Tuesday (I think!) didn’t see a ranger when we moored, but came round later to take our number. Said he didn’t normally do it, and was only there for the day. Two next morning, helped us to leave.
Smoggy
The guy from Winters Moon has been helping people and acting as a sort of volunteer warden, he knows what he's doing.
