Aboattime
Just seen an Aston 30 described as " Broads Sports cruiser" So all those years ago Astons were tweaking the engines to get their boats to plane across Breydon?! 1

Broads01
Here is the very same, still with it's Aston name and looking tidy. I have a soft spot for these, my parents hiring one when I was a child. In 2019 I also hired the last one on any hire fleet - Song of Freedom which felt very nostalgic. https://www.watersidemarinesales.co.uk/boat/aston-30-crossbow/

Dolphin
As much as I love my old girl, I definitely wouldn’t describe her as a sports cruiser. It’s a shame to see crossbow up for sale but it’s a good price and she’s now showing as under offer. There’s not many of these old ladies left. On the speed note, Astons were known for being the fastest fleet on the broads back in the eighties and early nineties. Back when speed wasn’t as frowned upon. Nothing passed us on Breydon when we opened up the Thames class boats, especially the Aston Humber which had a 2.5 bmc rather than a 2.2 like the rest of her class.
Roy
These boats look timeless if I didn’t want a Hampton Safari I’d have one of these always thought they looked good.

I have looked round a couple of them and the internal space for a 30 foot boat is really good. They do look a bit dated now (as do the original AF38/42 sadly), but with the Aquafibre layup I think for the money they're not a bad option at all.
astonsong
They are a good design in my opinion but as the owner of one I would say that
