Just looking on Herbert Wood's web cam and it looks like a lot of the moorings are taped off for work.

Does anyone know how long the work will be going on for.

To my way of thinking it would of been very beneficial to raise the quay headings a foot or so while they were doing the work. The water is always close to the top of them even at normal tides and would make them more usable when the water is high which seems to be quite often these days.

I agree but no doubt that would have increased the cost so therefore little chance of it happening.

It might help to a degree, but wouldn't stop the flooding unless the quay heading was raised all round Phoenix’s Staithe too.

It would have made it more  accessible to all and another missed trick lay a cable for another couple of electric posts as people try to be more eco friendly and not running engines to generate power and hot water.

We will have to wait for the knee jerk reaction and also pay dearly for it as its a whole new job. If we ran our personal expenses that way we would be very hungry.

Kindest Regards Marge and Parge

when I visited last they were doing the end section, and it involved ripping out all the timbers, digging back, the guys were wading in a trench where the timbers used to be and putting in new headings and tieing them back into the bank, one presumes they have just completed a section and ready to start on the next, they were digging back several feet from the edges

From BA Facebook page,

29th October.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1MKS9zX7iV2TSZnU/

Works have now finished at our Repps Bank 24-hour mooring and it is open once again!

Contractors have refurbished the site and replaced the timber piled mooring, including the capping, waling, barge boards and mooring posts.

They will continue to tidy the site up over the coming days and remove the majority of the fencing (other than that surrounding a particularly muddy area behind the path).

These works were initially delayed due to high water levels making the site unsuitable to work on, however thankfully the levels subsided and work could eventually get underway. Thank you for your cooperation during the delays and period of refurbishment.

Lathams here we come 😁

This time they might have salted caramel eclair toffees. Nowhere near as nice as the banana split ones, be warned!

I like the coffee ones, but the salted caramel will do.  Don’t do banana flavoured.

Only good for the cakes, which are now extremely expensive.  Nippy Chippy is worth a visit though. 😋

I like the coffee ones too Mouldy, just too moorish though so I’m having to limit my purchases. 🫤
I didn’t mention the coffee ones to Lulu as I don’t think she likes those ones.
the salted caramel ones start off ok with the salty bit, but are then very sweet and sickly indeed.

his have we got fixated on sweets from Lathams? My fault.

I second that - Nippy Chippy was outstanding in September, great customer service and the F&C were as good as it gets!

Might try them out next week.

Our fish and chips from our usual local (MK) chippy was a complete fail this evening. We haven’t been there for a while and suspect they have changed hands. Suspiciously, it was a lot less busy than previous visits.

Firstly they forgot the chips, so Graham had to go back. Graham thought they had replaced the fish, but I don’t think so as that was lukewarm with soggy batter. The curry sauce and mushy peas were lukewarm too. To top it all, once we had the chips we found they had given Graham a pineapple fritter instead of a pea fritter. I suppose it could have been worse, they might have given him a spam fritter (he’s vegetarian).

We won’t be going back there in a hurry!

Nippy chippy is well worth it. Just check their opening times as not open some evenings, and some evenings they close at 7pm I think.
Their opening times might be on the other thread running at the moment about winter opening.

Another vote from me. Always seem to be open in winter too and well supported by the locals which is always a good sign.

Need to check out the chippy.
