Hylander
Tides look pretty high today at Potter.
Mouldy
We’re currently sitting at Langley Dyke and a couple of the moorings have overtopped already. As I write this, it’s theoretically high tide, but the fairly strong breeze that is blowing at the moment will, I sure, have some impact on the tides overnight. Ive just been talking to a couple of folk also moored here and Cantley had already overtopped when they passed about an hour ago.

Smoggy
Rule of 12ths goes out the window once you get up rivers, coastal it's good. Check days range top to bottom, divide by 12, first hour rise will be 1 12th, 2nd hour 2 12ths, 3rd hour 3 12ths, 4th hour 3 12ths, 5th hour 2 12ths, 6th hour 1 12th. Repeat for next tide with fall instead of rise
marshman
But as you say its a lot of old tosh as far as rivers are concerned!!!! After years working out tides and seeing the results, as a broad (!) rule of thumb , I have had some success with using 5 hours of flood and seven of ebb BUT here we have very odd tides where wind and pressure can influence tide dramatically. One good observation is stick yer head out , see which way its going and just go with the flow!!!

Or wee over the side and watch the bubbles.... Wind and pressure affect tides everywhere, it's not a broads thing.
