SwanR
Taken from the Norfolk Fire Service live incident website. I heard a number of sirens this morning which are probably explained by this. I daresay more information may come out via local news. Appliances from Stalham, Wroxham, Carrow and Gt Yarmouth attended a boat fire fire at Sutton. Crews used main jets and hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. A drone was used to check for hot spots. The stop message was received at 09:09. 1
vanessan
Seems that a boat has sunk and is blocking the entrance to the dyke moorings and boatyard etc. Info from faceache.
vanessan
Just seen a bit of a video of the sunken boat and I’m not convinced it is blocking the navigation completely. I think it is the little boat that has been moored right at the downstream end of the moorings for some while but not actually on the public moorings. Hopefully the Sutton businesses will not be too affected.
ChrisB
Not the first time! There was a big fire there about 10 years ago.
Mouldy
The owner of the boat has set up a crowd funding page for a replacement boat. It seems that his insurers wouldn’t pay out! 3

Polly
I’m sorry for the boat loss, but if the insurance was in order wouldn’t it take longer than 24 hours to refuse to pay?
MargeandParge
To air on the side of caution it could have been third party. Kindest Regards Marge and Parge
Andrewcook
Insurance companies like to investigate first thing and then pay for the loss of the Boat that is how it works like flood and Fire and put up the premium.i think it's all wrong if it's your first claim
YnysMon
Am I just too cynical? I’m generally dubious about crowd funding. How do you know it’s a genuine cause or not?

ExSurveyor
I really shouldn't need to say this but it appears I do. No one knows the circumstances of this incident as yet. Please refrain from posting insults and abusive comments. I really don't want to hide anymore posts. 9

I haven't posted anything since the end of July, due to a week in hospital followed by recovery at home, although I have been reading the forum regularly. Frankly, I am glad not to have been involved in some of the discussions that there have been about sunken boats and other incidents, which have amounted to little better than ambulance chasing. Either that, or casually presuming to tell Clive Richardson how to run a boatyard! The forum has changed in recent months and I fear it is still changing. That change, of course, is driven from within, by certain of its membership.

Meantime
If you live on your boat and it catches fire you haven't just llost your boat but your home as well, and more than likely all your possessions apart from the clothes you are wearing. It's worth taking five minutes to ponder how you would be feeling now before jumping to conclusions or reaching for the keyboard.
kpnut
Boat went on fire, sunk, someone lost their possessions, Broads authority dealing with it, end of. Those are the facts. Can we stick to them please? 6 2
Cheesey69
Society as a whole I’m afraid. I feel it was around Brexit and the whammy of COVID we seem to have become harder less caring. More willing to pull up the draw bridge after us And I’m just as guilty as some
