Andrewcook
How often do we have to change the Mooring Roops, including the Mud weight? For wear and tear
CambridgeCabby
There isn’t really a set “sell by date” on your ropes A visual check will show any excessive abrasions etc . Remember to keep the ropes knot free and stowed tidily this will prolong their life .

ChrisB
Re:- Ground Tackle, in this case Mudweights, I have always been fastidious in this regard. A carry over I guess from nearly 40 years of boating at sea where if something goes wrong you are not going to gently drift and wake up in the reeds, Hence, I always used a drop-nose pin on the bow roller to stop the line jumping off. Always used a swivel between line and weight and all shackles were "Seized". The use of a No7 (70mm) block was my way of reducing the strain on my various sports damaged back back.
