Museum Of The Broads?

We last visited a few years back as well, found it very interesting and a good way to spend a couple of hours. A nice surprise was the old bar from the Maltsers.. just as we remembered it 🙂🍺👍

Had a look around a couple of years ago as we were staying opposite at Simpsons.

Very interesting and can learn quite a lot in a couple of hours plus you can have a trip on the steam launch.

Jeff

Lived just a few miles away a short while back but never got there. Sadly too busy working to look up and enjoy myself!

Just sold up where I am now and will be back home soon so must make a trip then. So much more to Broadland than just water and boats. :default_icon_e_smile:

I indeed! Pubs for a start :default_beerchug:

But back to the museum, fascinating place and well worth visit. It's a bit like the Tardis, more to it than meets the eye. Not just boats either, there was a really interesting pub and brewery section when we last visited. Well worth a look IMHO. They do seem to be closed in the winter though so get in quick!

I so miss the old Norfolk pubs many thankfully kept going by the holiday traffic.

I've got a fascination with reed cutting and thatch. Proper thatching... not that old straw stuff they use elsewhere!

the last time i went, which was earlier this year, i noticed they had had a massive re-vamp, a lot more different interests and some of the same, apparently theey also have a whole lot of boat plans that someone i know is trying to access.

I thought it was Stalham?? (At least the one we visited a few years ago was in Stalham).

Chris

Sorry. My mistake. I said I had never been there! :default_laugh:

What I meant was it 'should' have been in Ludham.:default_biggrin:.  Was looking at How Hill online earlier and it stuck in my mind.

Yep - I volunteer there

I get to drive people about in their electric boat and make up stuff to tell them. Hopefully I will be playing on their steam launch next year as well.

I will be joining the maintenance crew when the museum shuts in November. I have promised not to use any hammers, power tools or axes so most exhibits should be safe.

Its a nice museum with lots of stuff to poke about with. And coffee and ice creams. What more do you need

Also, a ticket allows you free access for a year so its quite good value - especially if you live close by

That sounds like a must then! Are you sure it's not in Ludham? :default_icon_e_confused:

Being in the building trade I am sure I can be of some use about the place and will only be a few miles down the road. Looking to do a bit at How Hill too. Love it there... a slice of old England.

I will ask for the skipper of the electric boat then! :default_biggrin:

do you have a tab at the ice cream bar? I know a certain somebody who walks in to an ice cream shop, not a word is spoken and not a penny is exchanged, and he walks out with 3 scoops of his favorite, talk about a regular.
