Aft door lock

We own a Bounty Bucaneer 34 RC (34 CC) which we keep in France. Year of build circa 1985. Last season we had the misfortune to snap the handle off the lock on the aft cabin door. The French locksmith who was consulted was ""desolated" to inform us that the lock could beither be repaired or replaced, at least not in France. We live in NZ and haven't been able to find a replacement here either, although we have located a Yale lock which could be adapted. Before going there s there anyone in the forum who could advise me in where I might be able to find an original replacement?. I am told that it s a Lockwood lock. It is rectangular in shape, dimensions 76mm x 70mm. It fits a door which oens outwards and hinges on the right when viewed from the outside.

Hello Wynni,

Welcome to the forum from Tan & myself.

Lockwood is an Australian company. I have looked on their site but I can not see anything that meets your description.

Is the lock a mortise or Yale type,  I assume that it may be the Yale type because of the opens outward reference.

If you post a picture of the lock and broken handle it may help.

Regards

Alan

Wynni,

Hi from Australia (or at least from the USA en route to Australia).  Actually I'll be in NZ for a couple of hours on Friday if you want to pop in to Auckland International!  :)

Try ASAP Supplies http://www.asap-supplies.com , they seem to have every other bit of hardware fitted to our Bounty still in stock!

Where in France is the Boat?

cheers,

Peter
