Mud weight shape

Recommended Posts

Hi,

The flat round type mudweight, is there any studies to prove they are better than the semi conical shape?

Don’t think any studies have been done Ian, there a many on “proper†anchors but not on mudweights. That said physics would dictate that a larger presented surface area (provided it has penetrated) would have greater “pull out†in the mud.

If I recall correctly that oblong lump of yours proved rather hard to retrieve from the bottom of Malthouse Broad, Ian.

The ole Bayliner had 1.5 mtrs of chain on a rope for a mudweight, needless to say it wasnt much good.
