ranworthbreeze
Hi Geoff, I can not give you distances especially in Norfolk miles (always more than on any sign) but anywhere on the Broads is quicker by car when you know all the back roads, Wroxham to Brundall is about 20 minutes. By boat most of the day assuming good tides. Regards Alan
Guest
Horning to Coltlishall.......6.3 mi, 12 mins Horning to Sutton......5.7 mi, 12 mins Horning to Reedham......17.3 mi, 34 mins Reedham to Sutton.....17.1 mi, 32 mins (Courtesy of Google maps, times by car.) When you type in two locations separated by the word "to", it calculates the route and directions. You can even "drag and drop" the blue route line to vary the track, and it instantly recalculates. It's surprising how quickly you can tour the Broads villages by land, even by pushbike. It takes me 90 minutes to do a circular route encompassing Horning - Ludham - Potter - Hickling - Sutton - Stalham - Wayford - Barton Turf - Neatishead - Irstead - Horning. It's a total distance of just over 20 miles, but I'm no Lycra clad athlete, (quite the opposite in fact ) The roads are so flat around here that cycling is really easy. It's amazing that so few people do it. Lots of quiet side roads and safe, wide open view lanes.
Hockham Admiral
Horning to Coltlishall.......6.3 mi, 12 mins Whatever speed do they think you can do along that miserable road? I reckon Hoveton to Colt will sometimes take that!
Guest
It's only in recent years that its speed limit was reduced from 60 to 40 mph. Before that it was very interesting when a Sugar Beet truck came towards you at 50mph... Another advantage of going by bike, the cycleway along the Bure Valley Railway from Wroxham through Coltishall is much more picturesque !
