Winning the lottery

Hi everyone

 

Ok, for starters this is just for a bit of fun.

 

What would you do if you won the euro lottery and money was no object?

 

Apart from the obvious like looking after family and friends I would buy a waterside home on the Broads with a lovely big centre cockpit moored at the bottom of my garden, would have to have some grounds so would need a gardener with a six pack, give some to charity and buy Alan (JawsOrca) a new boat so he wouldn't have to do em up anymore lol,  What would you spend it on?

I think I'd buy a boatyard if I won the lottery as I'd be bored! Although I'd get a nice offshore cruiser too.. I'd find grace a nice ex hire centre cockpit boat i'd guess !

 It's something like 64 million on the euro tonight, more than enough me thinks, just no pleasing some people   with that sort of money I would ask Clive Ricko to marry me or offer to buy his boatyard lol, So you would buy me an ex hire cruiser with that sort of money, thanks for that lol

I've always fancied having a small boatyard hiring out half a dozen luxury cruisers to discerning folks. As long as I didn't need it to make a profit I'm sure it'd be fun!

That is such a lovely idea of Marks. Money doesn't always bring the worst out in people it seems.

 

I would imagine with 64 million you wouldn't need to worry too much about making a profit, unless you want to be the next Richard Branson Jonzo

I would buy one of the houses that we have rented at Hope Cove in Devon, maybe a boat of some merit and the odd bit of land on the Broads with the space as you suggest for the said boat.

The very first thing I'd do, would be to invest three quarters of the money in secure investment vehicles, giving me a suitable guaranteed income.

 

With the remaining quarter, I would;

 

Buy a nice big house on Oulton Broad, and ask Clive very nicely to build me a couple of RC45's.

 

Buy a nice big house in Kelso, and then pay for family and friends to stay every so oftem nearby in our current favourite holiday cottage.

 

Buy a nice big lakeside house near Malcesine, Italy.

 

Finally, stick two fingers up to the boss on the way out!!!!

1) Buy several flats in Cannaregio, Venice.  Use one for family holidays, let the others out cheaply to young Venetians who have been priced out of their own city.

 

2) Buy a 2/3 bedroomed flat overlooking the river in Bristol. 

 

3) Buy an Aquafibre 38 (e.g. Major Gem) and give it a makeover so the interior is like Broadlander 's,

 

4) Set up trusts for my children  to give them an income equivalent to the average in the part of the country in which they live. Fund any education/training which will enable them to obtain their 'dream job'. 

 

5) Fund research into  auto-immune diseases especially rheumatoid arthritis and multiple schlerosis.  In the same spirit buy two or three Broadlanders and have them adapted to be easily accessible for disabled users and give them to Richardsons to hire out.

 

6) and most important - ENJOY IT!

Oh I like the Lake Garda Idea, hmmm buy that nice big hotel in Limone forget its name, where I could invite all my friends.   Have a cruiser   for Lake Garda for weekends, as I would be on the Broads on a new build that suits us older crew members. I could not agree more about rheumatoid arthritis, and in my case find a cure for chronic psoriasis.

Most importantly, don't change yourself! That would ruin the winning completely IMHO. Now must go and buy the winning Lottery Ticket! Best of luck to all!

When I won the lottery a few years back I learned that the old adage was true...

Money does not buy happiness, but it does buy chocolate which is much the same thing.

Pity I only won £10.

I think money could make you very unhappy, especially if one felt the need to be greedy and start actively avoiding tax etc.

 

Hence the need to ensure a good portion of a big win should be invested, and made to work for you, leaving a small portion to go 'nuts' with!!!

 

After all, a fool and his money.......

I think I would get a buzz from giving some of it away, and hopefully making people happy, certainly some to charities, particularly the BHF and Wrightington Hospital.  Invest some for the kiddies, spend my winters in Australia.  Charter a plane and fly over Westminster and stick two fingers up to THEM!!

 

I would buy one of those Mercedes roadsters, a Porche Cayenne, might have look at a Broom gin palace to store gin in.

 

I do not do the lottery very often but on one occasion that I did, I bought two lines and got the first three numbers on one line and the second three on the other line and so I won £20 but close and a cigar!!

Blubber I'm afraid, working on it but it is taking some shifting.

 

Oddly enough Grace I've got the Simpsons on here and they were watching a Gay Pride Parade and Homer commented that everyone has a six pack and all he has got is just a keg!!  That doesn't really read right but you get the drift.

I think a boatyard would be great, but where?. Sutton Staithe, Barton turf, Womack Water,  or the one at Smerleyton?. 

 

I`d also have a custom built boat, a  white GRP hulled, with varnished timber top Aquafibre Lowliner 44.with hybrid drve.

 

I`d have a bike engineers specialising in custom bike projects,

 

 A norfolk based bike tours company

 

And a couple of plots of riverside, one north, one south so the NBN could hold as many meets as they like there.

 

Oh yes, i`d also like to buy the big house at How Hill and convert it back to a house

 

But i think the first thing i`d do is buy a narrow beamed river cruiser and tour Englands canals for a year.

 

If i think of anything else i`l lett you all know.

Ah, the good old party 7. And if you were skint, or just tight, the party 4. I seem to remember many parties where they were in evidence, and none were ever anywhere near empty, unless they`d been poured down the loo.

 

 

As for what i`d do, i`ve just thought of two other little projects.

 

No 1-.    BLOW UP POTTER HEIGHAM OLD ROAD BRIDGE

 

No 2-.    BLOW UP WROXHAM ROAD BRIDGE.

 

 

Seriously though, i`d pay handsomely to have a civil engineering company come in and lift those two bridges by a foot each, and strengthen the footings and river bed to stop them sinking any further. Then i`d give a grant to anybody who wanted to re-open the village store at Hickling.

Ahhh, this takes me to the Walter Mitty Canal company which I would form. building a "pay as you row" canal from just south of Barton broad to join with the Catfield Cut. A lock half way along it to stop any salt water ingress, would be automatic and coin operated.
