ranworthbreeze
I saw this the other day but lost where I had seen it.This has to be good for the area, any skills that can be passed on has got to be good for the industry and the job market. For the details please see the following:-http://www.angliaafloat.co.uk/news/lowestoft_boatbuilder_s_call_for_15_apprentices_1_3611811RegardsAlan
BroadScot
Alan, I do believe we will see more and more adverts like this. the 1979 issue as I call it, when a certain lady demanded block release to college for apprentices (16weeks) We had a staff of 38 then, but my boss paid all the non indentured ones off sadly. Why you may ask... simples would you pay someone 16 weeks wages plus their NI stamp etc. and no profit from them being on jobs 4 days a week like day release use to be. THIS I believe has been the knock-on effect. The country IS short of skilled tradesmen, and it can only get worse. I wish that company every success. Call me old fashioned, but bring back day release to college, there is no substitute for being onsite to learn your trade. Iain.
