Deck Paint

Our track mark had a paint layer on which was looking decidedly 'shabby chic', ok just shabby!

After checking what was on, I looked for wisdom on t'internet; Blakes or International?

Neither said the oracles, Sandtex Masonry Paint, waterproof, breathable, dirt resistant and.....half the price!

We have just done our test patch, looking good I must say.

This is the stern hatch, but I also tried it on an off cut of the track mark.

I'd be interested to know what it looks like in a year, I could save a few pounds if it works out.

We used masonry paint on our timber sailing boat decks for years and it always did a good job.. we used to mix in international non slip additive although you can mix in a bit of sand and it does a really good job

No experience but have heard masonry paint being recommended before. Interesting.

This sounds like a plan as I am about to repaint the deck on my Bounty.

They do a slightly textured and a smooth. I am going for smooth and keeping the sand option in reserve, it's a bit grippy just 'as is'. Nice colours too....

It dries fast too, Tim, so if Uncle Albert is aboard, you are in with a fighting chance of it drying before he adjusts it's appearance.

We found though that it did deteriorate and needed doing every year though. We aren't doing on the power boat for this reason. Although if you are happy to do each year then its probably worth doing.. means you can change your mind too  Garage Floor paint is another alternative and a bit harder wearing.

A yearly once over would not be a bother.
