All plumbed in to water system and electric flush to boot Steve IMHO they're the perfect choice Steve, I have one like it in my motor caravan, and I wish the heads compartment in my boat had the layout to take that type as well. It looks just like a holding tank type, yet with none of the disadvantages. In a way, the ultra simple workings are very similar to the original hire craft "thunderbox" toilets, with the holding tank directly underneath, and none of the complexities of the pumps and narrow pipework of remote holding tanks.
