Broad Ambition - Underway on the H2O

Recommended Posts

Didn’t visit head of navigation at the Locks. Went to the Dyke leading to Rowan Craft then walked to The Werry

Sailed this morning at 0800.

Yes of course it’s raining so top  still up again.

FCE being prepared,

J1 has a dodgy ignition switch, I’ve asked H.W’s engineer to meet us at St Olaves with a replacement

Arrived safe and it’s stopped raining at last. Even got my rod out :default_norty:

You can't beat getting your rod out whilst it's all wet...

(Note to self) Don't mention maggots, don't mention maggots

Sailed from Acle with top down Managed Womack water and even got moored up before the rain came.

Sailed in the rain at 1330. Sometime on the Ant it stopped. Mercifully didn’t need to take everything down for Ludham Bridge as over 8ft clearance.

No room at Neatishead Staithe so managed a transit astern all way back to Gays Staithe ( transferred dinghy to bow) where we managed to get moorings. Tried fishing but the rain stopped that again. Dinner onboard provided by the Budget Angler. Walk to the Pub for four crew. I stayed onboard with Grendel

We arose to the rain as per normal which curtailed fishing yet again.

A list to port was also noticed.  On investigation it became apparent that this was the combined effort of the holding tank being half full - Tier one, diesel tank gauge in the red - tier two.

Now  B.A’s diesel tank was full on departure = 34 gallon. We have had the heating set running high most days and on overnights at a low running. Plus towing a dinghy sometimes against tide.

Nowt for it but to go Sutton yard for a splash n dash. 90 x Ltrs (£1:00 per Ltr) for now plus a pump out (£12:00) which saves a pumpout on Saturday.

We then sailed for Wroxham with top up / down / up etc. Ludham bridge over 8ft. Wroxham bridge was showing at 6ft 5”. We could have managed at that but it would have been tight so opted for the visitors public moorings at Barnes. He only charged us a fiver as we were staying for a couple of hours. Managed a decent Perch in between showers.

Sailed for Salhouse in the rain. Plenty of free moorings also plenty of boats here too. Fishing and dinghy sailing curtailed due to yet more rain.

Tonight’s dinner is provided by Norm. If it’s raining I’m staying onboard rather than walking to Fur n Feathers
