Sometimes ropes can be difficult to store on deck (Hard Cheese) but if that's the case, stow them until required.

We have two sets of 14 mm on Brilliant, one practical navy blue, one 'gaffer' natural, both are 2x10 m and 2x5m this works fine. I can only add to the wisdom here that our mudweight line is always floaty line, and that has been a very good thing on a couple of occasions!
