the gift shop building, is being revamped, a hairdressers, , the centre section not let as yet, and a tea room/cafe.there seems to be lots of work going on

For a minute there, i thought you were going to say they`ve given permission to blow up the old bridge?, now that WOULD be good news.

As an archaeologist I condemn the notion of destroying our heritage, or worse still selling it to the Yanks...but...when it comes to 'that bridge'...I'm all conflicted...and quite often contemplation of shipping it off to Vegas as a decoration outside a casino can be quite relaxing.

A hairdressers at Potter? I'm already imagining the tankers delivering blue rinse on a daily basis!

This may answer a question I was asked by Maurice Mynah. I have it on good authority that Royal Tudor can make it under...given a really really low tide and sufficient people onboard...

But then these were taken by Sue the previous owner and RT went under with the help of the pilot...

As much as I enjoy confusticating the bobble hatted binocular wielding hedge tremblers I don't think I have the piloting skills or the nerve to attempt the same trick.

We have not been under Potter Heigham for many years, but as we only get up on north river on our two hols in September and to find a morning is always hard. We said last year we would ask for moorings round the back of Herbert Wood, but didn't, so this year it is a most. Then a day boat and up to Hickling and Horsey  .

As for a hair dresser at Potter Heigham great news. Ok you guys don't need a shampoo and set or a cut and blow dry :summertime: . For us girls it's like having a little pampering  . Bring it on.

Yes, the Bean & Baguette or whatever it's called.

Never really fancied that, maybe it was because it's often busy though!?

Many locations support a few coffee shops now, so I think an often busy location like this probably is busy enough for two, but as ever whether two will survive will depend on whether they are different enough to each other and also whether both can hit the mark in offering what enough people want to succeed.

Timbo's photographs must have been taken when photography was in its infancy.   The gentleman, for such indeed he was and still is, now has even less hair and of a fairer colour!  The second of the two photographs is interesting in that the crew appear to have jumped ship.

I do hope it does as it will give me somewhere to go while the Mrs spends the afternoon in the tat shop next door buying bag fulls of useless stuff that we already have from past visits and don't need.

I can just see it now, in the Salon for some pampering then in the tat shop for buying bags loads of useless stuff we don't really need or want (it's a girl thing you men will never understand) and then if there was a nice restaurant as Jaws suggested, over to there, a few glasses of wine and a nice meal and then back on the boat to which husband and sons will tell me all about the fish they have caught and the really big one that got away......bliss  ;)

We love Potter, nice to see it's getting a bit of a tidy up and good luck to the new management of the Broadshaven, what a cracking place that could be  cheers

It could be, always reminded me of a works canteen on a bad day.

Do people really bother about having their hair done whilst on holiday? Surely a Broads boating holiday is about forgetting such frippery? Sensible women have a tuppeny-all-off before coming and us blokes adopt the wild & wooly look! Anyway, it's what wooly bobble hats are made for, cover it all up! Out on a boat, traipsing around Lathams in a brain dead stupor, board stiff kids in tow, or stuck under a hair dryer, surely there is no contest?

Lol, Absolutely no contest whatsoever, I have never had my hair done whilst on a Boat on the Broads, always have it done before we go (just having a bit of a laugh) My non-boating friends often ask what ever do we find to do in the evenings are there any Cinemas.....A dark dingy Cinema watching a Movie or watching a Broadland sunset with a glass of something nice and a fishing rod, no contest there either
