RayandCarole
Taken from HM Gorleston coastguard FB page this morning Fourth job, As the Team departed the seafront to return to the station a tasking came through to back up Hemsby Broads Rescue at Cantley. A boat had been reported driving upstream from Hardley Cross in the dark without any lights, had been seen to hit the bank and a woman's scream was heard. The boat was quickly located, a person onboard was given first aid for minor injuries. There was a fair bit of damage to the boat. This incident was investigated by the Police as the Team had concerns for the welfare of persons onboard. #59/15. Ray & Carole

Boatingman
From HM Coastguard report this seems a bit more than just the navigation issues as the police where involved Ray
Chelsea14Ian
I can understand people not getting timings right and going under poor light, but its another thing boating in the dark. Last year we were going to Stacey in poor light. We had our nav lights on and a hire boat behind us.I would not attempt boating in the dark unless I had a good strong searchlight. These people do not think and misjudge timings, but they are a danger to themselves and others. My tip for them there's no need to rush, travel in daylight, there's more to see. Hope the woman was ok, at least they hit the bank and not another boat, or bridge.
