John I think he had a brain removed - not sure I would want to be that close to a brown bear! I wouldn't get that close to a cow

He did look kind of cute when he sat down though (if you can call something cute with claws like that lol)

We went to Yosemite a few years back and stayed in the tented site there. When your queing to check in they show you videos of what a Black bear can do to a car if you leave food in it - I am not sure being in a car would be safe with either bear if it was hungry. Black bears are a bit smaller - but still not that cuddly

Check out Lily the Black Bear FB for some awesome research on these fascinating animals. Unlike brown bears, black bears are not predators and have a  complex social structure. Gordon Buchanan did a fab series called 'The Bear Family and Me' about this research project which is like Diane Fossey's work in the past.
