Gracie
Happy Halloween everyone We have some of the kids friends coming over with their parents, some of the guys are dressing up and will probably scare the kids half to death keeping them up half the night in the process Oh, the joys of parenthood lol Apart from some of us girls getting our broomsticks out, dusting them off and going for a spin (the only night we can live up to our reputation lol), have any of you guys got any plans? Hylander
Getting my broomstick ready as we speak Gracie and some of us (me) dont need to dress up to look scary, just get out bed in the morning and stay like it. Have a happy time tonight. The kids will love it and so will be big kids. I did think we could not post on here at the moment but although you cannot view new messages it seems to be ok.
Gracie
I'm sure that's not true, Monica, you are lovely and don't forget it The way I look and feel at the moment, people will scream and run away when I take my mask OFF lol Grace
Hylander
Oh Gracie I am sure that is not true either. Take care out there tonight , some of these chimney pots can be a bit dodgy if you accidentally swipe one with the tail of your broom. Just hope my modifications hold out. Well a girl does need her mirror to keep her looking good. I think my hat has seen better days but I am sure it will do another year.

Gracie
Don't know about you M but that's a very good likeness of me. Hmmm, now where did I put that voodoo doll type thingy I had of a Scotsman in a kilt, riding Scoot and holding a fire extingisher? lol Grace
Maxwellian
You two could do a synchronised display.

Sorry Grace, Scoot it in dry dock just now, well in the boot of my car. Me in a Kilt? Aye, when I was about 6 years old! For those who have no idea the cost of a kilt, a good quality one starts from around £600.00p Full regalia approx £1250 to 1500. Hylander
Gosh is that so, they are expensive, I thought the Scots were tight (said with tongue in cheek, I dont mean to offend) , I can recall whenever the town went quiet , someone at work always used to say, it is like Glasgow on Flag day. i assume they meant folks selling flags that you pinned on your lapel. I can remember going to St Augustus when we were on Loch Ness and seeing an exhibition at the castle of days of yore and I gather the Scots only wore these kilts that extended over the shoulder and torso. They wore nothing else. I can remember saying blooming heck they must have been made of sterner stuff than me.

BroadScot
Hi Monica, Its not Glasgow, that's tight.....its Aberdeen on flag days, Union Street is empty! Without doubt, the coldest main street in ANY city in the UK! Brrr and that's in mid July! Iain.
grendel
I think I may have scared the trick or treaters away, I was just doing some washing up when the doorbell went, I was just drying the big carving knife (more like a cleaver- its old and goes rusty if you put it in the dishwasher). the kitchen window and sink are only just across from the front door, I think they may have peeked because by the time I got to the door they had gone.

SweetKingfisher1
We are not into Halloween. I locked the porch door so no little brats could knock on the front door . In years gone by, we had more big brats and they would pass the word around where / who was giving out goodies . No more from us, peace and quite on Halloween. SPEEDTRIPLE
I simply LOATHE absolutely anything to do with Halloween. My idea of fun is when they shout out trick or treat when you open the door, shout back TRICK, then tazer the little sods. HUMBUG. I DO love Christmas, though definately NOT the comercialism of it.

BroadAmbition
The way I look at it, my two were nippers once, we used to escort them round the village to houses that were 'Dressed' they had a great time, we got to speak with neighbours / villagers. Nowadays my two are no longer at home. So it's payback time. We 'dress' our house in the hope that the young ones will come visiting whether we know them or not. Macie dog enjoys making a fuss of them, I give a £1 to every child that visits, not keen on sweets ruining their teeth Griff
Gracie
Jeez, you lot are a bundle of laughs tonight, nothing wrong with kids dressing up and having a bit of fun for goodness sake, we were all young once, anyone tasered my little 'brats' they'd get more than they bargained for I can tell you Smashing post, Griff, we had bowls of sweets and fruit ready, some of them did take the fruit, saw some right little cuties too Grace
MauriceMynah
WelI don't know ! On the one hand we've got kids demanding money with menaces, whilst on the other we've got adults enticing them with sweeties. Seriously though, I think Griff has the right idea. If you welcome halloween then hang something appropriate on your front door, and parents should go with the kids and keep them to doors that have been dressed.

No better than beggers on the streets. Trick or treat is an americanism thats been forced upon us by the media and marketing groups. Am i wrong?, just look at all the halloween crap that`s sold in all the supermarkets etc, which is all vat applicable by the way. If i had my way, i`d outlaw it, and any parent who willfully sends their kids out pestering, and possibly frightening vulnerable old or infirm people into giving out freebies that they should go and buy themselves, should be shot.
Gracie
My post was very much tongue in cheek, you had better go and get your gun and shoot me, I've been out with my kids, we haven't frightened vulnerable people or sent them to strangers doors, only our neighbours that know us, spending just an hour having a bit of fun and a laugh with our neighbours. My children are certainly not beggars and I would NEVER put them in danger This was a fun topic that has now left a very sour taste in my mouth Grace
