  1. Must admit shes a great boat for the family,so much more room than the Elysian 27 we had before, she needs work, but getting there! also will be staying as pirate of Hearts 1 in her hire fleet livery..bit of a retro thing i suppose!

Its always very interesting seeing the ex fleet boats for sale at stalham Clive, always tempted..tbh, the boats you have and the price they are, i think they are great value... :)

  2. are you selling all the san moritz?? think we hired no.1 years ago, have to say one of my favorite broads cruiser designs, with that all weather wheelhouse, great vision, ease of handling, great layout etc..

youve got me thinking now Clive!

  3. always intresting to see whats for sale ex hire, and after spending the weekend at stalham on my first visit of the year to pirate of hearts, i happened to take a peek at the 'for sale' row! must admit i do like the Bourne 35(always liked-and have hired San Moritz at Riccos), but that Top Gem-What a boat, really like the look of that...lot of boat for that money, any history on that one Clive? ;)

  4. Hi Clive

Thanks for the info, always thought they were from Ludham airfield, but Metfield and Seething! blimey they have seen some history in their time!

im sure when i cleaned Richardsons boats on the yard on saturdays in the mid seventies, we all congregated around the end of the T2(black hanger) first thing in the morning, hoping to be picked! i think it was either 50p or £1 a day!! :) it was hard work too..still cannot stand the smell of brillo pads!

    cheers

  5. Hi All

Very interesting thread this.. pic of my 34 elysian there in the basin too! thanks for the behind closed doors pics..always wanted to look in where some of the work to the fleet was being carried out when im up working on pirate of Hearts 1, but didnt want to get in the way :?

By the way Clive, can you tell us where the old hangars came from?

    cheers

    Andy

  6. hi dan,

thanks for those,im currently on the moorings at stalham with my 27 elysian and was walking around the yard last weekend and saw the old hearts boats all looking a bit forlorn!some of the smaller elysian 27s look like they need a bit but could still be turned round.. looking at them took me back to my hireboat days in the eighties..

As for pirate of Hearts Elysians, where they first on richardsons hire fleet? does anyone have pics?

Wish i could save em all really! :) but then id have to buy a yard to put them on..prehaps near norwich..thorpe?? could always live on an MTB..

  7. hi,

does anyone remember the little shop at st olaves bridge? moored there once in the eighties in a hired miss moore 24 freeman, needed a box of matches. on entering the shop we were confronted by this old grumpy chap that preceeded to give us complete run down of every item in this little shop! He said in broad norfolk-We got, milk, eggs, sugar, jam tarts, white bread, brown bread, etc on and on he went..when we asked for sunblest bread, he got really angry saying-no! and we dont need no pretty pictures on it! we brought the matches..

we had moored at the free 24 hour moorings near the shop and he kept coming down and looking in the windows!! :? reckon he was spying on our baked beans to see where theyd come from!!

    ah happy days!

  8. hi all,

following on from this thread, does anyone have any history of info on pirate of Hearts 1, Elysian 34, D673, which ive found out started life as richardsons hire boat back in 1972? as fairway 3..then sold to hearts cruisers in about 89/90..

ive checked her out on superb norfolk broads boats site,

any info or pics at all would be great..

    many thanks indeed :)

    andy
