  1. Hi Everyone

Thank you for your supporting replies to our Marina Quays project. You may know there is a Public Meeting being held by the "Objectors" at the Yarmouth and Caister Golf Club on Thursday the 4th of October, if you would like to give us your support by attending it would be greatly appreciated. Or just turn up to help me get out alive!

    TIA Terry Everitt

  2. We have been about for a while,we are EMS at Great Yarmouth

we are hoping that you will all take advantage of the new site next year.

just to clear it up we are hoping for 12 residential moorings and the rest of the site will be for hire craft and private boats less 8 moorings for the houses

Now thats interesting but achievable??? So the developers think that the "profit" on 8 houses is going to be enough to dredge and refurbish the moorings??

Sounds a bit fanciful to me - if anything is left off in the fullness of time, methinks the moorings may end up  being only for those 8 houses. Or indeed at all??

Or am I just being a cynic??

We are the new owners of marina quays, and the river front is going to be the first part of the project including moorings for Holliday boats and residential alike.

the dredging has already been done along the full length of the site, next is a big clean up new parking electric hook up,and renovating the old control building.

hoping to be open for business in the new year.

  4. Oh geez.. did you guys have to take the white boardings off?? or did the boat do that itself? Much damage to the boat? Well done again.. you guys certainly picked a good mooring spot there ;)cheers

yes boards of and now laying at the yacht station before they caved the roof in.had to flood it as well thankfully not to far motor is ok

  5. Sounds a bit home made to me,the only way you can use a car gear box in a boat is to change the gears about in the box as reverse is the lowest ratio in the box your prop will turn so slow it will have no effect.we have tried this in the past on a 4108 with a commercial van box,it was great in third for drive and used fourth gear in place of reverse, but be aware this is not a DIY job.you can buy a second hand velvet drive for a hundred pounds now so it's not worth all the effort

  6. Hi Wehlau

Twin 250HP Cummins 54 gallons per hour yes gallons not litres :wave oh I need to go and lay down

wow that is massive consumption,my Deutz main engine on the coaster only drinks 21gallon an hour and that's a 17000cc,hope you have deep pockets, that said I would love a ride on her when its angry I bet she gets along
  7. Did I hear a gauntlet fall to the floor :naughty:

all joking aside.i take it you are the quo vadis we see on the Bure "private boat nice sounding motor"they do sound nice what are they?as for fuel 20ltrs an hour at 1400 rpm yes it's thirsty
  8. Massive horse power ?

yes massive, not the same as you have witch is for speed.our prop setup 28x16x4 running through a reverse transfer coupled to a Perkins 6354.4 over bored and mani cooled with a two stage holset water cooled turbocharger high compression 48 bolt head over size injectors and a hi flow injection pump.tosh has no speed 8/9 knots max but brake away power yes,I'm the last person you want a tug of war with

  9. Hi John,

They`ve still got Titan, but i think they use her mainly for getting into shallow water, especially when boats go outside the marker posts. John told me when they first got her that she was specially desined for shallow estuary work on the Thames. I believe she is relatively flat bottomed, though i`m not 100% on that.  The tug in the picture i would imagine is used for salcvage use in the main rivers?. I`m sure wehlau will let us know?.

close enough,Titan is flatish on the bottom and was originally a shallow water tug designed to ground.Tosh is a navy tug and is built for brake away power, ideal for pulling of the mud with massive horse power

  10. Not a pleasent trend, Maybe as you say more first timers on the rivers.

    cheers Iain

no 37years experience he just lost concentration.Be warned those bends have a shelf about ten feet out it drops drastically,my tug draws 1.3M and I'm floating at low water, note the crane holding the back corner up

  12. When my kids were young they used to wear lengths of timber on their feet, like snow shoes, so they could walk on the soft mud when they were collecting old bottles that have been on or in the mud for years. They called it 'splodging' and great fun it was too.

in my home town they have a race called the Maldon mud race, just thinking maybe an idea for Breydon, goggle it it's great fun for all

  13. That looks a bit hard there though Peter? We do it a lot here on the medway although it's a bit softer so even a bilge keeler can do it here! Some of the best nights sleep I've had have been sitting on the mud .. Having done it at Breydon.. can we do it without getting everyone all excited? (I don't mind the stares and the forum posts as it will be worth it!!) cheers

wrong type of mud for a joy ride over there, but it's off

  14. Hi all I'm looking for an old short shaft 25/30hp motor for my little work boat.it can smoke and look bad,it doesn't need controls just a hand throttle, don't care what make it is just cheep as they get wrecked going aground and picking up rope, even if it runs like crap sell it to me and I will finish it of

  15. We just saw it. It certainly is a long way up the mud and I believe its spring tides at the moment. Certainly also sounds like these lads were being stupid and I personally think they should be made to pay for cost occurred as this isn't lack of experience but stupidity.

Thoughts to alpha and any future alpha customers whom may be inconvenienced by these idiots.

Good luck too to wehlau and maffetts. Hope its a safe and easy job.

my uncle "maffets" was horrified at how far it is on apparently this has happened only a hand full of times in forty years.i had the boss of Alfa craft with me this morning and the hirers just laughed at him when he climbed on the boat and said "looks like we f&@?ked this guys boat up",he replied I am the owner and you have just lost you deposit as he stood in beer cans and food all over the floor.apparently they behaved impeccably on the show round.i think it's just bad luck for him at the moment
